Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant to join our Church Office team! The focus of the role is to record income and pay expenses for the Heart of Jesus Catholic Area Faith Community (AFC) and its parishes, recognizing that these entities are autonomous corporations, but with a shared mission and some shared staff. At times, answering the phones and greeting visitors during your office hours may be required depending on office coverage. Duties

Manage day-to-day bookkeeping using Parishsoft Accounting and FamilySuite, including contribution entry, bill pay, expense tracking, and financial record reconciliation
Provide front desk support by greeting visitors, answering multi-line phone systems, and directing calls with professional phone etiquette
Maintain organized filing systems for both digital and paper documents, ensuring easy retrieval of information
Data entry and maintaining accurate records for donations and billing purposes
Offer customer service support by addressing inquiries promptly and professionally via phone or email
Perform clerical duties including filing, photocopying, and managing office supplies to ensure a well-organized workspace

Experience

Experience in accounting or finance with preference given to experience in church accounting.
Possess excellent computer skills in word-processing, financial/accounting & spreadsheet software, and other programs to create documents and files.
Able to work independently.
Possess the ability to maintain a sense of order with strong organizational skills and attentiveness to details.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Recognize and maintain confidentiality.
Demonstrate integrity and honesty
