JOB DESCRIPTION
Drivers in this position operate heavy-duty trucks with front or rear end load lift attachments. Using specialized equipment on their truck, they pick-up and service residential or commercial containers filled with waste, recyclable material, or yard waste. Containers may weigh in excess of 1,000 pounds and, at times, may require maneuvering of wheeled containers to a pick-up stage area. They then transport the material to a disposal, transfer or recycle facility when the truck has reached the legal load capacity. Safe driving is crucial when traveling and maneuvering the truck in high traffic / congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots around other vehicles and under highlines. A high level of skill, especially regarding backing maneuvers, is essential to being successful as a commercial driver.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Must successfully complete and pass applicable pre-employment background check, driving record, physical and drug screening.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements and demands of the position.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 2 years or more of relevant work experience in transportation, driving or logistics is preferred.
- OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered adequate.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- CDL is required (WCS can provide training to interested candidates).
- Ability to operate large, heavy-duty vehicles.
- Ability to work a consistent work schedule, as punctuality is required.
- Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to safely operate large, heavy-duty vehicles.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, OR REGISTRATIONS
- Ability to provide a current Class D Minnesota Driver’s License
- Ability to provide or acquire a current Class A or Class B Minnesota Commercial Driver’s License including air brakes, no restrictions (WCS may provide the means to become licensed to qualified candidates).
- Ability to provide or obtain a current, valid DOT Health Card (MEC)
