Position Summary
Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity seeks a dynamic, mission-driven and results-oriented Executive Director to provide strategic leadership and overall management of the organization.
Serving Lake and Geauga Counties, Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity works to create safe, healthy and affordable housing through affordable homeownership, critical home repairs and community partnerships. The organization also operates the Lake-Geauga Habitat ReStore, a nonprofit retail and donation center whose proceeds directly support Habitat's mission.
The Executive Director serves as the organization's senior leader and primary ambassador and works in close partnership with the Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, donors and community partners to advance Habitat's mission and ensure the organization's long-term financial and operational sustainability.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative but goal-oriented leader who can develop people, build relationships, drive fundraising and revenue growth, strengthen organizational accountability, and translate the Board's strategic vision into measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth
- Partner with the Board to establish and execute strategic priorities, annual goals and long-term plans.
- Translate organizational strategy into measurable goals and accountability across departments.
- Identify opportunities to expand Habitat's impact, partnerships, funding and visibility throughout Lake and Geauga Counties.
Fundraising & Financial Sustainability
- Lead fundraising and revenue-growth strategies, including major gifts, corporate partnerships, grants, sponsorships and events.
- Oversee the annual budget, financial performance, cash flow and long-term financial sustainability.
- Cultivate strong relationships with donors, businesses, foundations and community partners.
- Administering accounts payable and payroll.
Staff Leadership & Accountability
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing, collaborative and mission-driven staff.
- Establish clear expectations, measurable goals and accountability for department leaders.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, communication, respect and continuous improvement.
Programs & Construction Oversight
- Provide executive-level oversight of affordable homeownership, construction, critical home repairs, volunteer engagement and other mission-driven programs.
- Work with staff to establish annual goals, monitor outcomes and ensure programs remain financially sustainable.
- Support efforts to secure properties, funding and partnerships that expand Habitat's impact.
ReStore Leadership & Revenue Growth
- Provide strategic oversight of ReStore operations, financial performance and annual revenue goals.
- Support strategies to increase donations, sales, partnerships and community awareness.
- Ensure ReStore operations effectively support Habitat's overall mission and financial sustainability.
Board Relations & Governance
- Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Board of Directors and Executive Committee.
- Provide timely financial, operational and program updates to support effective Board decision-making.
- Partner with Board members on fundraising, community engagement and strategic initiatives.
Community Relations & Partnerships
- Serve as a visible ambassador for Habitat throughout Lake and Geauga Counties.
- Build relationships with businesses, municipalities, nonprofits, foundations, faith communities and other community partners.
- Represent Habitat at community events, speaking engagements, meetings and media opportunities.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit management, business, community development, fundraising or a related field.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, develop relationships and drive fundraising or revenue growth.
- Excellent communication, organizational and decision-making skills with a strong commitment to Habitat's mission.
Preferred Experience
- Five or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience; bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
- Experience with nonprofit leadership, fundraising, Board relations, affordable housing, construction, community development or social-enterprise/retail operations.
- Established relationships or experience working within Lake and/or Geauga Counties preferred.

The Executive Director's performance will be evaluated against measurable organizational goals, including:
- Growth and diversification of fundraising revenue
- Achievement of annual operating budget and financial goals
- ReStore revenue and profitability
- Number and impact of homes built, repaired and families served
- Growth of donor and corporate partnerships
- Staff performance, development and retention
- Volunteer and Board engagement
- Expansion of Habitat's presence and partnerships throughout Lake and Geauga Counties
- Successful execution of the organization's strategic plan
- Overall financial health and long-term sustainability of Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity
