Young & Squire is a fast growing independent luxury menswear store in the Wilmington area that offers world class custom and bespoke garments and carries some of the finest menswear brands in the industry.

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Tailor to join our growing team! In this role, you will bring garments to life through expert sewing, alterations, and garment construction, ensuring each piece meets our high standards of quality and style. Your craftsmanship will help customers look and feel their best, whether they’re seeking custom apparel or professional clothing adjustments. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional eager to showcase their tailoring talents in a lively, customer-focused environment.

Duties

Perform clothing alterations and repairs with precision, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing garments to fit perfectly.
Operate pressing machines and press garments to achieve crisp, professional finishes that enhance overall presentation.
Use garment sewing skills to assemble new clothing items, ensuring proper stitching, seam alignment, and garment construction.
Provide excellent customer service by understanding client needs, offering style advice, and communicating progress clearly throughout the tailoring process.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper handling of fabric materials and sewing equipment.
Follow safety protocols when operating press machines and other equipment to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications

Proven experience in traditional men's tailoring, clothing alterations, or garment sewing.
Strong knowledge of fabric materials, stitching techniques, and garment construction principles.
Skilled in operating sewing machines, pressing machines, and press operation with attention to detail.
Ability to perform hand sewing for delicate or intricate repairs.
Familiarity with men's wear tailoring and women's wear tailoring for diverse client needs.
Basic math skills for accurate measurements and pattern adjustments.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
Knowledge of fabric care and maintenance to advise clients appropriately.
