Entry-Level Retail & E-Commerce Associate
Hinno Valley by Hempire Innovations Dispensary
Wilmington, NC
Part-Time | Starting at $14/hour + Tips | Paid Training | Approximately 15 to 25 Hours Per Week | Looking for someone willing to work evenings on weekdays and weekend shifts
Our Business Hours are Monday-Saturday: 12 PM-8:30 PM; Sunday: 2 PM-8:30PM | You MUST be able to work within our business hours, we have adjusted them precisely based on store-traffic since we opened our brick & mortar in February 2026.
About the Position
This is an entry-level position with paid training, but entry-level describes the experience required to apply, not the level of effort expected once you are here.
You do not need previous dispensary, Shopify, e-commerce, fulfillment, packaging, design, or shipping experience. We will train you on the systems and processes you need to do the job.
What we are looking for is someone who wants to learn, work, and develop professionally.
This is not a passive retail position where you learn the register, wait for customers, and do the same thing every shift.
Our Wilmington location is a retail store and the operating center for our e-commerce business. Online orders, local delivery orders, nationwide shipping, product packaging, inventory, customer support, and other business operations are handled from the same location.
All of this work is performed in person during your shifts at our Wilmington location. This is not a remote position.
During a shift, you might help a customer, prepare an online order, package products, update inventory in Shopify, create something in Canva, check a Google Sheet, prepare a shipment, print product labels, or stage a local delivery order.
You are not expected to know how to do all of that when you start.
You are expected to learn.
We will provide training, answer questions, and give you opportunities to practice. As you gain experience, we expect you to become more confident, capable, accurate, and independent.
What You Will DoRetail & Customer Service
You will learn our products and day-to-day retail operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Greeting and assisting customers
- Learning our products and helping customers understand their options
- Answering product questions responsibly
- Operating our point-of-sale system
- Handling cash and card transactions accurately
- Verifying customer age when required
- Preparing customer pickup orders
- Restocking products and displays
- Keeping the retail area clean, organized, and presentable
Previous hemp or dispensary experience is not required.
We will train you on our products, store procedures, and how we communicate with customers.
We focus on being helpful and informative. We do not pressure customers into purchases or make medical or exaggerated product claims.
Online Orders, Delivery & Shipping
A significant part of our business happens online.
You will help prepare orders for:
- Store pickup
- Local same-day delivery
- Nationwide shipping
You will learn how to:
- Pull the correct products for each order
- Verify products and quantities
- Prepare pickup orders
- Prepare and stage local delivery orders
- Pack shipments neatly and securely
- Print shipping labels
- Update order and fulfillment information
- Organize completed orders
- Check orders for accuracy before they leave
- Keep the fulfillment area organized
Accuracy matters. Sending the wrong product, quantity, or package creates a problem for the customer and for the business.
We will teach you our process. Once you know the process, we expect you to follow it carefully.
Shopify & E-Commerce
Shopify powers our online store and is part of our everyday operation.
You do not need previous Shopify experience.
We will train you to use it.
As you develop, you may learn how to:
- View and process online orders
- Update inventory
- Update product information
- Work with product variants
- Upload product images
- Update collections
- Make basic storefront updates
- Review customer information
- Manage fulfillment information
- Check the storefront for accuracy
There is no coding requirement for this position.
We are not hiring a programmer or web developer.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable using a computer and willing to become proficient with the technology used to operate a modern retail and e-commerce business.
Canva & Design
We use Canva for many of our everyday design needs.
As you are trained, you may help create or update:
- Product labels
- Product images
- Website graphics
- Store signage
- Packaging materials
- Promotional graphics
- Other business materials
You do not need to be a graphic designer.
Previous Canva experience is helpful, but it is not required.
If you have never used Canva before, we can teach you how we use it.
AI Tools
AI tools are part of our normal business workflow.
We currently use:
We use these tools for research, writing, organizing information, product content, customer communication, brainstorming, and improving repetitive workflows.
You do not need previous professional experience with AI tools.
We will show you how we use them.
What matters is that you are willing to learn how to use new technology effectively rather than avoiding it because it is unfamiliar.
Google Sheets & Google Docs
We use Google Sheets and Google Docs throughout the business.
You may use them for:
- Inventory counts
- Product information
- Packaging quantities
- Checklists
- Internal documents
- Procedures
- Order information
- Basic record keeping
You do not need advanced spreadsheet knowledge.
We will teach you the specific functions required for your responsibilities.
Product Packaging & Labeling
We package our own branded products at our Wilmington location.
You will be trained to help with:
- Preparing products for sale
- Packaging different product quantities and sizes
- Counting products accurately
- Applying product labels
- Printing labels
- Matching the correct label to the correct product
- Organizing finished inventory
- Organizing packaging materials
- Checking completed products for accuracy
Previous production, packaging, or labeling experience is not required.
Attention to detail is required.
We will teach you how to do the work. We expect you to care about doing it correctly.
Inventory & Daily Operations
Everyone on our team contributes to keeping the operation running.
You will help with:
- Restocking
- Inventory counts
- Organizing products
- Receiving and organizing supplies
- Preparing packaging materials
- Cleaning work areas
- Opening and closing tasks
- General store organization
There is rarely a point where there is nothing productive to do.
When customer traffic is slower, that time is used for online orders, packaging, inventory, Shopify work, Canva projects, spreadsheets, organization, cleaning, and other business tasks.
You will not be expected to recognize everything that needs attention on your first day.
That awareness develops as you learn the business.
Over time, however, we want you to become someone who can recognize what needs to be done and take action without waiting for someone to assign every individual task.
Customer Support
As you become familiar with our products and systems, we will train you to answer basic customer questions through our approved communication channels.
Common questions involve:
- Order status
- Pickup
- Local delivery
- Shipping
- Tracking
- Product availability
We will teach you what you can handle yourself and what should be passed to management.
Local Same-Day Delivery
Local same-day delivery is part of our daily business operations.
Store associates help prepare and coordinate these orders. When necessary, store associates may also complete local deliveries using their own vehicle.
Having your own reliable vehicle is required for this position.
This is not primarily a delivery-driver position. Your main role is working at our Wilmington location across retail, e-commerce, fulfillment, packaging, inventory, customer service, and other store operations.
However, while our delivery operation is transitioning, you must be capable of covering a local delivery when required.
When you complete an approved delivery:
- Mileage is reimbursed
- Delivery tips are yours
- You will use your own vehicle
- You will follow our delivery and customer verification procedures
We are developing our own delivery platform to transition more of the driving portion of local delivery to independent 1099 delivery drivers.
As that network grows, store associates will spend less time completing deliveries themselves while continuing to prepare and coordinate delivery orders from the store.
Transportation Requirements
Because store associates may need to cover local deliveries, your own reliable vehicle is a requirement for this position.
You must have:
- Your own reliable vehicle
- A valid driver's license
- Current vehicle registration
- Current auto insurance
- A working smartphone with reliable service
Your driver's license, registration, and insurance must remain current if you are responsible for delivery coverage.
Simply having a way to get to work is not sufficient. You need to have a reliable vehicle available during your shift when delivery coverage is required.
Entry-Level Does Not Mean Easy
We want to be clear about what entry-level means here.
It means we are willing to hire someone without previous experience and train them.
It does not mean the job requires little effort.
There are multiple parts of this business operating at the same time. You will be learning different systems, products, procedures, and responsibilities.
Some things will feel unfamiliar at first.
That is expected.
You may have never processed an e-commerce order, worked in Shopify, created something in Canva, prepared a shipment, printed a product label, managed inventory, or used AI tools professionally.
That is okay.
You can learn.
What matters to us is what happens after you are shown something.
We expect you to pay attention, practice, ask questions when you need help, apply feedback, and gradually become capable of handling the responsibility yourself.
We are not looking for someone who already knows everything.
We are looking for someone who wants to become good at things they do not know yet.
Your Professional Potential
One quality we care about is how you approach things you have never done before.
"I haven't learned how to do that yet" is completely fine.
Deciding that you are simply not capable of learning something before giving yourself a real opportunity to learn it is not the mindset we are looking for.
You do not need to consider yourself a technology expert.
You do need to be willing to become more comfortable with technology.
You do not need to already be good at Shopify.
You need to be willing to learn Shopify.
The same applies to Canva, Google Sheets, Google Docs, ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, our POS, shipping systems, label software, inventory processes, and the other tools you will encounter here.
We do not expect everyone to become equally strong at everything.
You may discover that you are especially good with customers. You may become great at packaging and inventory. You might discover that you enjoy e-commerce, design, organization, or technology more than you expected.
We want to give you the opportunity to find that out.
Do not disqualify yourself simply because something in this description is something you have never done before.
Our Work Environment
We work hard to maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive work environment.
We want people to enjoy coming to work, feel comfortable asking questions, and know that they will be treated with respect.
Nobody is expected to magically know something they have never been taught.
Questions are encouraged.
Honest mistakes happen while people are learning. When they do, the goal is to understand what happened, correct it, and learn from it.
At the same time, a positive workplace does not require lowering expectations.
We believe people do their best work when they are supported and challenged to improve.
We will provide training, tools, feedback, and opportunities to develop. In return, we expect effort, accountability, attention, and progress.
We do not expect you to be great at everything on your first day.
We do expect you to want to become better than you were on your first day.
As you become more capable, you will be trusted with more independence and responsibility.
We do not believe in unnecessary micromanagement. The goal is to train people well enough that they can confidently handle their responsibilities without someone constantly standing over them.
Support goes both ways. We are willing to invest in people who are willing to invest in themselves.
