A warm, active, and loving Wilmington family is seeking a kind, energetic, organized, and experienced nanny to care for their four children, ages 12, 10, 7, and 3. This is a busy household where no two days look exactly the same, so the ideal nanny will be laid-back, collaborative, and comfortable rolling with the punches while providing consistency and structure for the children.
The family values honesty, respect, integrity, fairness, and strong relationships and strives to treat their nanny as a valued member of the team. They are looking for someone who will become a trusted and steady presence in their children's lives and who is excited about making a long-term commitment to the family for the next several years.
Flexibility is essential, as start and end times may occasionally shift and responsibilities may change throughout the day based on school schedules, activities, and the family's needs. Mom works from home and often tag-teams with the nanny to divide and conquer school pickups, activities, and time with their youngest child.
The children are active and involved in a variety of activities, including golf, horseback riding, dance, sports, arts and crafts, and outdoor play. The family also loves spending time at the beach, boating, and in the mountains. The nanny should enjoy working with children of different ages and be comfortable supporting a busy activity schedule.
Responsibilities Include:
- School pickups and transportation to/from activities
- Helping older children stay on top of homework and school responsibilities
- Keeping track of the shared family calendar and thinking ahead about upcoming needs
- Ensuring children have the appropriate equipment, snacks, and meals before activities
- Helping with light tidying and encouraging the children to keep their belongings and common areas picked up
- Supporting the family as a whole and stepping in wherever needed
- Communicating clearly and collaboratively with the parents
- Remaining flexible when plans change or unexpected needs arise
- Occasionally providing overnight care when parents travel
- Being open to occasional travel with the family, if possible
The family has a full-time housekeeper, so the nanny will not be responsible for household cleaning, but they would appreciate someone who is mindful about leaving the home tidy and encourages the children to do the same.
Requirements:
- Previous professional nanny experience required
- Experience caring for multiple children and/or working with larger families preferred
- Clean driving record and safe driver
- Reliable vehicle that can safely accommodate at least two children
- Comfortable using their vehicle for occasional transportation; mileage will be reimbursed
- Comfortable with the family's two Golden Retrievers
- COVID vaccinated and current on flu vaccination
- Non-smoker
- No alcohol, marijuana, or drug use while caring for the children
- Punctual, dependable, communicative, and highly flexible
- Collaborative and comfortable working as part of a team with the parents
- Organized and able to anticipate the family's needs
- Comfortable with last-minute changes and shifting priorities
- Genuinely enjoys working with children and is enthusiastic about becoming a long-term part of a family
- Open to occasional family travel and/or overnight care when parents are away
