Lumen Center for Wellness is Wilmington's first adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health treatment for teens ages 11–18. We are a new practice launching in Fall 2026 and are looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) who is excited to help build something meaningful from the ground up.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about working with adolescents in a collaborative, team-oriented environment where relationships and quality care come first.
Schedule
Part-Time
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- 2:30 PM – 6:30 PM
- Approximately 12 hours per week
Additional hours may become available as the program grows.
Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician provides direct support to adolescents participating in our Intensive Outpatient Program. The BHT works alongside licensed therapists to create a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment while assisting with daily program operations.
This position is ideal for someone pursuing a career in mental health, social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and check in clients upon arrival
- Assist therapists with daily group programming
- Provide supervision and support during transitions and breaks
- Monitor client safety and promptly report concerns to clinical staff
- Build positive therapeutic rapport with adolescents
- Facilitate therapeutic games, activities, and skill-building exercises under therapist direction
- Assist with group room setup and cleanup
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment
- Document attendance and other assigned program activities
- Support crisis response under the direction of licensed clinicians
- Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree (completed or in progress) in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Child Development, or a related field
OR
- Associate degree with relevant behavioral health experience
Experience working with adolescents or children is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to move throughout the facility
- Ability to occasionally assist during behavioral crises using approved de-escalation techniques

Compensation
$20–24/hour, depending on education and experience.
