Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of Admissions’ primary goal is to recruit, admit, and enroll students who will thrive within our collegiate community. This unit oversees the entire process, from recruitment to enrollment.
Regular interaction and contact with the public, including professionals in all disciplines of the university, is involved. These interactions require an accurate knowledge of relaying Admissions policies and procedures set forth by the University and the Office of Admissions.
Our office is actively engaged in diverse activities aimed at promoting and facilitating the wide array of programs, activities, and opportunities available at UNCW. Through these efforts, we seek to effectively communicate the university’s offerings to prospective students and the broader community.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Admissions Communications Manager develops and executes strategic, personalized communications that support enrollment growth and enhance the prospective student experience. This role utilizes strategic and compelling storytelling, enrollment-focused marketing, and data-driven campaign management to engage students from inquiry through enrollment. The Admissions Communications Manager leverages technical expertise to create, optimize, and assess multi-channel communications that improve engagement, conversion, and yield while ensuring a seamless and student-centered enrollment journey.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop, execute, and manage comprehensive multi-channel communication strategies that guide prospective students through enrollment and support recruitment initiatives.
- Utilize advanced Slate functionality to build, launch, and optimize multi-channel campaigns within Slate Deliver. Ensure continuity across email, print, and SMS communications to support students and families from inquiry to enrollment.
- Craft compelling, student-centered messaging that builds institutional value and resonates with students. Maintain a consistent, authentic voice that uses storytelling to translate complex processes into clear, engaging narratives that reduce enrollment barriers and increase conversion.
- Develop and implement an integrated multi-channel Communications Calendar inclusive of all marketing assets such as print, digital, web, and social media.
- Collaborate with campus partners to create a seamless enrollment experience by aligning communications with key milestones and deadlines. Ensure messaging is personalized, relevant, and responsive to where students are in their decision-making process.
- Analyze and optimize communications by monitoring campaign performance across key metrics. Analyze engagement data to refine messaging, timing, and audience segmentation.
- Develop and implement a strategic social media plan that aligns with institutional messaging and brand standards. Oversee and mentor student social media interns.
- Serve as the institutional expert on admissions communications. Provide strategic guidance and support enrollment stakeholders in maintaining clarity, consistency, and impact across all communications.
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Office of University Relations and participate in institutional communications work groups to ensure alignment of enrollment communications with university brand standards, messaging priorities, and strategic initiatives.
- Oversee vendor relationships and manage projects related to admissions marketing and communications initiatives.
- Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in higher education marketing, digital engagement, and Slate CRM.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be
received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
- Master’s Degree in communications, marketing, or similar field or three years of previous experience in related area
- 2+ years of admissions experience in a postsecondary setting
- Proficiency with Slate CRM and advanced Deliver functions
- Knowledge and understanding of communication practices in a higher education setting
- Demonstrated experience in vendor management and project management
- Demonstrated experience in copywriting or content development
