Full Job Description

Consistently process, grind, mix, and weigh raw animal materials. Properly stuff ground beef and hang various sausage products in preparation for further cooking and/or packaging.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Tends to the sausage making machine that mixes ingredients to make sausage, according to specific recipes.
Weigh ingredients and add them into a mixing machine.
Starts machine that mixes ingredients. Empty mixed ingredients into containers.
Wrap, trim, produce sausage, chop meat, stuff meats
Receive merchandise in the Production Department.
Labeling & inventory of custom and private label orders
Cleaning machines and maintaining equipment

Grinding:

Grind meat products

Mixing:

Run meat through machines
Season meat
Maintain proper water/moisture content for products

Stuffing:

Stuff meat in plastic sheers
Casing meat
Hang sausages & snack sticks in smoke trucks.

Education/Experience:

Meat processing experience preferred.
Must be 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
Strong attention to detail
Good English verbal and written communication skills
Good organization skills as well as time management
Punctual, dependable and reliable
Ability to work independently or as a team when needed
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Desire and ability to follow general food safety practices and guidelines as set by the plant and the USDA (GMPs, HACCP, SOPs, SSOPs, SQF systems)
Must be able to write, speak and read English
Mechanical aptitude is a plus but not required

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Moderate to heavy lifting and walking - lifting/carrying to 60 lbs., pushing/pulling to 60 force lbs., reaching, turning, standing, squatting, stooping/bending, equipment operation (meat saw, bone scraper, knives, slicer, band saw, scales, wrapping machine). Must be able to work effectively in refrigerated/cooler environment.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
