Medial Construction Services is a growing residential construction company based in Schuylerville, NY, serving homeowners throughout Saratoga, Warren, and Washington Counties.
Our projects include bathrooms, basements, decks, additions, kitchens, exterior improvements, and full residential renovations. We focus on quality workmanship, professional communication, clean job sites, and executing projects according to the established scope of work.
We are looking for an experienced Lead / Finish Carpenter who can take ownership of assigned work and execute projects correctly without requiring constant supervision.
Position Overview
This is a hands-on carpentry position for an experienced tradesperson who is comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for the work assigned to them.
We need someone who can be given a scope of work, project plans, manufacturer specifications, and direction from management, understand what needs to be accomplished, and carry the work through correctly.
You will work directly with company management and may also be responsible for directing a Carpenter / Skilled Laborer or other crew members assigned to the project.
This position requires someone who can think ahead, identify problems, communicate effectively, and maintain a high standard of workmanship without needing constant oversight.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality finish and general carpentry work
- Interior trim, baseboard, casing, and finish details
- Interior and exterior door installation
- Window installation and finishing
- Cabinet and millwork installation
- Decking, stairs, and railing finish work
- Flooring installation and miscellaneous carpentry
- Framing and general residential construction as required
- Read and accurately follow scopes of work, plans, drawings, and project specifications
- Follow manufacturer installation instructions and required installation methods
- Lay out and execute assigned work independently
- Direct and work alongside carpenters and skilled laborers when assigned
- Maintain organized, clean, and safe job sites
- Keep tools, materials, and project areas organized
- Identify field conditions or potential issues before they become larger problems
- Communicate job progress, material needs, questions, and field conditions with management
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with homeowners while working in occupied homes
- Complete work efficiently while maintaining company quality standards
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of residential construction and carpentry experience preferred
- Strong finish carpentry skills
- Experience installing interior trim and doors
- Experience installing replacement and new-construction windows
- Cabinet installation experience
- Decking, stairs, and railing experience
- Working knowledge of framing and general residential construction
- Ability to accurately measure, lay out, cut, fit, and install materials
- Ability to read and follow project plans and written scopes of work
- Ability to understand and follow manufacturer installation requirements
- Comfortable troubleshooting field conditions and making sound construction decisions
- Ability to work independently without constant supervision
- Ability to direct a helper or additional carpenter when necessary
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Professional communication skills when interacting with homeowners
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are required
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
- Smartphone required for daily company operations, including clock-in/out, forms, photos, and job-related communication
Compensation
$30–$35 per hour, depending on experience, skill level, and ability to independently execute assigned work.
Compensation within this range will be based on demonstrated carpentry knowledge, finish skills, experience, reliability, and the level of responsibility the applicant can handle in the field.

The right person should be experienced enough that management can provide the scope of work, review the project expectations, and trust them to execute the work correctly without constant supervision.
You should be able to look ahead at the next phase of work, recognize when something does not look right, ask questions when necessary, and take ownership of the quality of your work.
Reliability, workmanship, communication, and the ability to follow the established scope and instructions are critical to this position.
