Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Staff Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Dispense medications accurately in accordance with prescriptions, ensuring compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapies, including pediatrics and acute care cases.
- Manage pharmacy operations efficiently, including inventory control, medication compounding, and aseptic techniques such as IV infusion and insertion.
- Provide clinical consultation on pain management, medical management, immunizations, and drug regulation policies.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff while fostering a collaborative team environment focused on excellent patient service.
- Ensure pharmaceutical regulatory compliance by adhering to USP 797 standards, HIPAA regulations, and pharmacy confidentiality policies.
- Utilize Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), Electronic Health Records (EHR), and other software to streamline workflows and maintain accurate documentation.
- Educate patients on medication administration, potential side effects, and health management strategies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to pharmacy practice.
- Support healthcare teams by participating in multidisciplinary rounds and contributing to clinical decision-making processes.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Pharmacist in the relevant jurisdiction with current state registration.
- Prior experience in clinical pharmacy settings such as hospital or LTC (Long-Term Care) environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated expertise in critical care, pediatrics, pain management, or acute care pharmacy practice.
- Proven ability to manage pharmacy teams effectively while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy laws, drug regulation policies, and healthcare compliance standards including HIPAA.
- Proficiency with Pharmacy Information Systems (PIS), EMR (Electronic Medical Records), EHR systems, and inventory management tools.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as immunizations or IV insertion are advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on client interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding techniques following USP 797 guidelines is essential.
- Experience practicing as a pharmacist within community or hospital settings is preferred.
