Job Summary
Reporting to and under general supervision of the Director of Tribal Relations, the NAGPRA Administrative Specialist (Specialist) performs varied administrative, analytical, and technical duties and provides day-to-day operational support for NAGPRA repatriation activities and collections management systems. The Specialist is expected to use independent judgement to make decisions, interpret and apply policies and procedures, perform research when needed, provide support documentation, and provide general office assistance. Contacts involve interaction with all levels inside and outside the university and may include dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
Key Qualifications
This position requires a bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. Experience supporting large collections and data, museum collections database systems and NAGPRA Repatriation is highly preferred. Intermediate proficiency of computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, CollectionsSpace, Native American Heritage Commission (NAHC) Database, Drupal, and PeopleSoft preferred.
Salary and Benefits
This is a part time, temporary, non-exempt position. The CSU Classification Step Range for this position is $27.69 - $40.34 an hour (step 1 - step 20). Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience. Step placement upon appointment is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($27.69 an hour). Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.
