Full Job Description

Position Overview

A privately held last-mile delivery company is seeking a driven, energetic, hands-on Operations Manager to help lead daily delivery operations in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.

This is not a desk-only management position. This is a boots-on-the-ground leadership role for someone who wants to learn, grow, solve problems in real time, and become part of something special.

The right person for this role is dependable, coachable, high-energy, and not afraid of long hours, hard work, and real responsibility. We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the company, take ownership, and help build a strong operation from the ground up.

This role supports daily route execution, team accountability, fleet readiness, vehicle uptime, call-out coverage, and real-time operational problem solving.

This is a confidential leadership search.

Schedule

This position follows a 3.5 days on / 3.5 days off schedule.

The typical schedule is Wednesday through Saturday, with longer workdays during operating days. Shifts are typically 12–13 hours.

This schedule is ideal for someone who is willing to work hard during operating days while also having extended time off each week.

Core Responsibilities

Lead daily last-mile delivery operations across multiple routes
Support route execution, daily readiness, and real-time operational decisions
Help manage readiness, utilization, and uptime of a 50+ vehicle fleet
Track vehicle issues, downtime, inspections, maintenance needs, and repairs
Coordinate with repair vendors, supervisors, and leadership to keep vehicles moving
Help reduce vehicle downtime through proactive tracking and escalation
Manage same-day call-outs, coverage gaps, and operational disruptions
Coach, develop, and hold supervisors and drivers accountable
Monitor service levels, safety events, delivery performance, and operational KPIs
Communicate operational risks, needs, and improvement opportunities to leadership
Jump in where needed to keep the operation moving forward

Required Experience

Operations management experience in last-mile delivery, fleet-based logistics, or a similar fast-moving operation
Experience helping manage daily operations, vehicle readiness, fleet issues, or route coverage
Strong problem-solving ability under pressure
Ability to lead people, communicate clearly, and hold others accountable
Willingness to work longer shifts and stay fully engaged during operating days
Strong work ethic, ownership mindset, and desire to grow
Ability to work in person on a Wednesday through Saturday schedule

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with 30+ vehicles required; 50+ preferred
Familiarity with route-based delivery metrics and performance dashboards
Fleet maintenance, inspections, safety, or DOT-adjacent experience
Experience leading supervisors, drivers, or field-based teams
Strong comfort level in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment

Compensation & Benefits

$48,000 – $52,000 per year
