Job Description Summary
The Academic Coach and Access Specialist – Health Sciences and Law supports the delivery of academic coaching and disability support services for students across Wake Forest University, including the Reynolda Campus, the Wake Forest University School of Law, the Bowman Gray Center for Medical Education (BGCME), and programs located at the Wake Forest University Charlotte campus. Reporting to the Assistant Director for Health Science and Charlotte Programs, this position coordinates disability accommodation for the School of Law and the School of Medicine programs, provides academic skills coaching, and advances student success initiatives for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students across the University's academic programs.

Essential Functions:

Provides academic skills coaching to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students across Wake Forest University, including students on the Reynolda Campus, the Wake Forest School of Law, the Bowman Gray Center for Medical Education (BGCME), and the Wake Forest University Charlotte campus. Coaching topics may include learning strategies, time management, exam preparation, and effective study practices.

Evaluates and interprets documentation of disabilities and provides recommendations for accommodations.

Supports the coordination and implementation of approved disability accommodations for students across Wake Forest University, including Reynolda Campus programs, the School of Medicine (MD, PA, Academic Nursing), the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and the WFU Charlotte campus.

Serves as the primary point of contact and coordinator for disability accommodations for Wake Forest University School of Law students, ensuring timely implementation of approved accommodations, direct communication with students and faculty, and coordination of other academic accommodations in alignment with CLASS and School of Law policies and procedures.

Assists the Assistant Director in managing accommodation requests by gathering documentation and tracking accommodation implementation.

Develop collaborative relationships with School of Law administrators, faculty, and student support staff to facilitate effective implementation of accommodations and promote equitable access for students with disabilities.

Assist students with components of the application process for professional licensing and credentialing examination accommodations, including medical, health sciences, and legal licensing examinations under the guidance of the Assistant Director.
Other Functions:

Maintains and updates internal records and databases related to accommodation implementation and student interactions.

Assists with communication to faculty, clinical faculty, law faculty, and academic program staff regarding approved accommodations, implementation procedures, and disability-related best practices.

Supports outreach and educational initiatives that promote awareness of disability resources and academic success strategies within the School of Law, School of Medicine programs, and other assigned academic units.

Collaborate with CLASS staff and campus partners to support student success initiatives.

Assists with tracking participation and assessment data related to academic coaching and outreach programs.

Participates in staff meetings, professional development, and departmental initiatives.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Graduate degree in education, psychology, counseling, higher education, or a related field.

One year of experience in higher education, student services, disability services, tutoring, coaching, advising, or a related student-support role

Knowledge of disability accommodation practices in higher education,

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive student information with discretion.

Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Commitment to student success, access, and inclusive educational practices.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Comfort facilitating one-on-one student coaching conversations and small-group workshops.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
