Full Job Description

We are seeking a reliable, professional, highly organized Operations & Store Manager to help oversee the daily operations of a growing antique vendor marketplace & wholesale distributor.

This is an important management position for someone who is comfortable taking ownership, managing employees, working with customers and vendors, handling administrative and financial responsibilities, and helping ownership develop the procedures and structure needed for a growing business.

The ideal candidate is a strong problem-solver and self-starter who can recognize what needs to be done and take initiative without requiring constant direction. We are looking for someone dependable, trustworthy, professional, and capable of helping keep both the people and business organized.

Experience in the antique, furniture, home furnishings, retail, or vendor-mall industry is highly preferred, but strong management and accounting/bookkeeping experience will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and assist with the day-to-day operations of the store
Manage, supervise, schedule, and provide direction to employees
Help establish employee expectations, responsibilities, procedures, and accountability
Provide professional and courteous service to customers and vendors
Handle customer or vendor concerns and help resolve issues appropriately
Manage and coordinate appointments, schedules, meetings, and other business commitments
Assist with accounts payable and bill payment
Maintain accurate records of bills, expenses, payments, and other financial information
Work with ownership and accounting professionals to keep financial information organized and current
Assist with vendor-related records, payments, communication, and administrative needs
Help develop and implement store policies, rules, guidelines, and standard operating procedures
Identify areas where better organization, procedures, or controls are needed and help implement solutions
Assist with inventory, merchandise, furniture, and vendor operations as needed
Help coordinate repairs, maintenance, deliveries, vendors, contractors, and other operational needs
Maintain confidentiality regarding company, employee, vendor, and financial information
Perform additional administrative and operational duties as the needs of the business change

Required Qualifications

Previous management or supervisory experience
Previous bookkeeping, accounts payable, bill-pay, accounting, or comparable financial administrative experience
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent communication and customer-service skills
Ability to professionally manage employees and address problems when necessary
Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling financial information
Comfortable using computers, email, spreadsheets, accounting/business software, and scheduling systems
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and work independently
Dependable, punctual, trustworthy, and professional
Willingness to be flexible and assist in different areas of the business when needed

Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred:

Antique stores or antique/vendor malls
Furniture or home furnishings sales
Retail management
Multi-vendor retail operations
Bookkeeping or accounting
Accounts payable/accounts receivable
QuickBooks or similar accounting software
Inventory or point-of-sale systems
Developing business procedures or standard operating procedures

This position is best suited for someone who enjoys bringing organization and structure to a growing business.

The right person should be able to balance several different roles: manager, administrator, problem-solver, customer-service professional, and organizer.

Because we are a growing business, responsibilities may evolve over time. We are looking for someone who sees that flexibility as an opportunity to become an important part of the company rather than someone who wants to remain within a narrowly defined job description.

Antique and/or furniture industry knowledge would be a major advantage.
