Sanitation Supervisor- 3rd Shift
PRIMARY FOCUS
The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain and ensure compliance with an efficient and effective Sanitation Program that meets all legislated food safety and regulatory standards. Additionally, this role provides oversight and leadership of production operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality-focused manufacturing processes while supporting operational goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities for this position include, but not limited to, the following.
Leadership & Team Management
· Lead, train, and ensure sanitation and production teams duties are completed safely, accurately, and on time.
· Train sanitation staff on the proper operation of equipment and application of chemicals required for their roles.
· Supervise and lead the sanitation and production crew to maximize workflow efficiency and minimize errors.
· Supervise crew schedules and timekeeping.
Sanitation Operations & Facility Oversight
· Ensure sanitation schedules are executed thoroughly, effectively, and within established timelines.
· Maintain general oversight of facility conditions, with a focus on cleanliness, product storage, product protection, safety, and internal security.
· Dismantle equipment guards to prepare for deep cleaning and preventative maintenance; assist maintenance staff with reassembly and lubrication activities as required.
· Order and maintain approved inventory levels of sanitation supplies, chemicals, and tools.
· Prepare and maintain facility layouts to support pest control, emergency evacuation planning, and capital improvement projects.
Food Safety, Quality & Compliance
· Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.
· Work collaboratively with Operations to ensure practical and effective compliance with food safety standards.
· Inform the Production Supervisor/Manager immediately of any health and safety concerns and recommend corrective actions.
Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
· Track, update, and report weekly sanitation KPIs.
· Identify opportunities to improve sanitation effectiveness, efficiency, and overall plant performance.
Production Support & Collaboration
· Partner closely with Production leadership to support operational objectives and ensure smooth production flow.
· Provide support and oversight of production activities as needed to maintain safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
· Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments to achieve plant goals.
People Leadership & Team Development

· Training: Develop, implement and maintain training programs in sanitation and production according to identified needs. Ensure training is delivered to all required employees.
· Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as quality and maintenance to ensure safety and food standards are integrated into all aspects of operations.
· Communication: Communicate company objectives, policies, and procedures to all employees, ensuring a clear understanding and commitment to safety.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· High school diploma or equivalent is required
· A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in sanitation with at least 1 year in a leadership role.
· Experience supervising and developing hourly employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Knowledge of food safety and quality systems, including GMPs, HACCP, SQF, BRC, or other GFSI-recognized standards.
· Experience leading sanitation programs, environmental monitoring, and audit preparation activities.
· Working knowledge of sanitation chemicals, cleaning procedures, and safe chemical handling practices.
· Forklift/ Scissor lift trained

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work Environment: This role operates in a hybrid office and production environment, utilizing a computer and related systems to manage schedules, track performance, and coordinate daily operations. The position requires frequent and consistent presence on the production floor and in sanitation areas to, support team members, and ensure performance, safety, and operational standards are achieved.
Work Hours: This role will work 3rd shift production hours 10:00pm-6:00am, Sunday-Thursday, but flexibility is required.
Extended Hours: Extended hours may be necessary based off business needs.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, bend, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or twist.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Exertion of physical strength to push, pull, move and lift objects up to 50 pounds from one level to another at varying heights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Technical Abilities:

Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and keyboard, a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier and so on.
Safe Quality Foods:
All staff are responsible to report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
In the event key personnel responsible for this role are unavailable, an appropriately trained backup has been assigned to cover the duties to ensure the integrity of the SQF System.
