Summary:
The Community Engagement & Marketing Coordinator supports the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau's marketing, partnership, and visitor service efforts through organic social media management, partnership program support, newsletter development, content coordination, and visitor center assistance. This part-time position works closely with the Executive Director to strengthen partner relationships, promote the Stevens Point Area through engaging content, and provide exceptional customer service to visitors, residents, and community stakeholders.
The position serves as an ambassador for the Stevens Point Area and Portage County while helping advance the organization's mission of driving tourism, enhancing quality of life, and generating economic impact throughout the region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following.
Marketing & Social Media Responsibilities
- Assist Marking Manager by create, schedule, and publish organic social media content across SPACVB platforms.
- Develop engaging content that promotes local events, attractions, businesses, outdoor recreation opportunities, and tourism experiences.
- Help monitor and respond to comments, messages, and social media inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with content creation including photography, video, reels, stories, and community-focused posts.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to ensure social media aligns with overall marketing campaigns and organizational goals.
- Research social media trends and recommend new ideas, platforms, and engagement strategies.
- Assist with tracking social media performance and provide monthly reports highlighting growth, engagement, and opportunities.
- Maintain a consistent brand voice across all social media channels.
- Assist with promoting SPACVB events, initiatives, and community partnerships.
- Assist as needed to coordinate blog content, destination stories, and partner spotlights for use across SPACVB digital platforms.
- Assist with the management of the SHRPA content program by coordinating content writers, scheduling assignments, collecting submissions, and supporting destination storytelling initiatives that highlight the Stevens Point Area and Portage County.
- Develop and help assist monthly newsletters to partners and visitors to help promote the Stevens Point Area and Portage County.
Partnership Program Support
- Assist the Executive Director with the implementation and growth of the SPACVB Partnership Program.
- Help coordinate partner communications, meetings, outreach efforts, and engagement activities.
- Assist with the development, writing, formatting, and distribution of partner and stakeholder newsletters.
- Gather partner updates, tourism news, events, and industry information for newsletter content.
- Maintain accurate partner information within CRM and other organizational databases.
- Assist with partnership renewals, welcome materials, and partner onboarding.
- Support the collection and organization of partner content, including events, deals, promotions, photos, and business updates.
- Assist with partner education opportunities, networking events, and familiarization tours.
- Help prepare partnership reports, presentations, and promotional materials.
- Provide excellent customer service and support to tourism and hospitality partners.
Visitor Center & Guest Services Support
As a small and collaborative organization, every team member plays an important role in ensuring visitors, residents, and community partners receive exceptional service. This position is expected to provide support to visitor center operations, guest services, and front-line customer interactions as needed, helping maintain a welcoming and positive experience for everyone who engages with the Stevens Point Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.
- Provide exceptional customer service to visitors, residents, and community partners visiting the SPACVB Visitor Center.
- Greet and assist visitors by providing information on local attractions, events, lodging, dining, recreation, and community resources.
- Answer incoming phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately while maintaining a professional and welcoming demeanor.
- Assist with visitor center operations, including maintaining brochure displays, promotional materials, and overall appearance of the facility.
- Support gift shop operations as needed, including assisting customers, processing purchases, and helping maintain inventory displays.
- Assist with visitor inquiries received through email, social media, and other communication channels.
- Serve as a positive ambassador for the Stevens Point Area and Portage County, creating a welcoming experience for all visitors and community members.
Community Engagement & Organizational Support
- Attend community events, tourism functions, and partner activities as assigned.
- Assist with special projects, campaigns, and events that support SPACVB initiatives and strategic goals.
- Support internal communications and collaborative efforts among staff and community partners.
- Work occasional evenings and weekends for events, visitor center coverage, or organizational needs.
- Represent SPACVB in a professional, positive, and courteous manner at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience managing social media platforms for a business, organization, or brand.
- Ability to create engaging written and visual content.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic graphic design tools such as Canva.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Interest in tourism, hospitality, marketing, communications, or community development preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact, Mailchimp, or similar newsletter software.
- Strong writing, proofreading, and content development skills.
- Photography and videography experience.
- Experience with CRM systems and member/partner-based organizations.
- Knowledge of the Stevens Point Area and Portage County attractions, events, and tourism assets.
- Experience working with community organizations, tourism entities, or hospitality businesses.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to attend community events and partner meetings as needed.
- Occasional evening and weekend availability.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
