YWCA MALDEN CENTER FOR WOMEN AND FAMILIES

Job Description: School Aged Site Director

Full Time Position (37.5 hrs.)

YWCA Malden is an innovative community-based organization with a mission of Empowering Women and Eliminating Racism. The organization’s unique programs are targeted to underserved low-income women, girls, and families of color in the urban community of Malden, Massachusetts.

Position Description

Responsible for management of a Department of Early Education and Care licensed after-school program including enrollment, curriculum development, and staff oversight. Management of the program will be conducted in a professional and confidential manner which incorporates the culturally sensitive and developmental philosophy of the YWCA. The Director will ensure the highest quality of care for children and their families, comply with the Department of Early Education and Care requirements, and health and safety regulations, as well as promote cost effective operations.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee all aspects of Center-based programming, including supervision, coordination, promotion, parent relations, school relations, scheduling, enrollment, observation, and evaluation.
Supervises and provides leadership to childcare staff including recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and discipline. Provides feedback regularly to staff and holds all accountable to adhering to EEC policies and procedures.
Ensures quality supervision and safety through the implementation of handbook, pick up and drop off policies, background checks and professional development for all staff
Ensure that program standards, best practices, and safety regulations are followed as established by the Department of Early Education and Care, the Board of Health, and the YWCA Malden.
Sees that all staff conduct varied activities that help the children to grow in interpersonal relationships and to discover ways to develop new skills that will provide self-confidence.
Works with professional staff in other agencies regarding special needs of individual children i.e. social workers, guidance counselors, etc.
Works with executive director and/or childcare staff team to complete annual EEC contract

ADMINISTRATION DUTIES

Coordinates the transportation schedule for all aspects of program.
Compiles and completes all statistical data for required reports.
Monthly attendance input and billing to Department of Early Education and Care, and Bureau of Nutrition. All required financial reports, etc.
Conducts regular staff meetings and individual conferences with staff on a monthly basis.
Maintains records for children and staff in compliance with DEEC requirements to meet licensing renewal outcomes.
Interviews and processes all applications for families to be served.
Manage budgeted enrollment for program using wait listing, referral agencies, and promotional requirements.
Acts as Family Access Administrator to process and manage availability of eligible slots/vouchers.
Works with business manager to oversee and manage budget and expenditures.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with school partners, families, and staff
Keeps updated on Bureau of Nutrition guidelines, attends required meetings.
Meets monthly with Executive Director to establish and maintain standards and policies for program and budget items.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

21 years of age or older
Must meet of the following education criteria:
Bachelor’s degree in child development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Guidance, Human Services, Nursing, Psychology, Physical Education, Recreation, Child Psychology, the Arts, Social Work, Sociology, or Child Care have 6 months of experience working with school-aged children, OR;
Bachelor’s Degree in any field or an associate’s degree in any of the fields listed above 9 months of experience working with school-aged children
Six months of administrative experience
Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
Experience working with families and children of diverse backgrounds
Ability to work with coworkers in a team approach
CPR and First Aid certification required
Must have skills in program and administration.
Must be sensitive to the needs of young children and their families.
Commitment to YWCA Mission with experience working in a multi- cultural environment.
