Position Overview:
This position oversees the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) – Minneapolis Veterans Home’s 24/7 housekeeping and laundry operations in a manner which serves the needs of the residents, staff, and visitors, while meeting requirements established by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Health, Department of Administration, U.S. Veterans Administration, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Supervise, direct, and oversee the campus' housekeeping and laundry department.
- Ensure housekeeping and laundry operations adhere to the facilities safety and infection control protocols.

Ensure continuous quality improvement procedures are maintained to ensure a sanitary, clean, and orderly environment.
- Manage and monitor department budget including vendor services and contracts.

Two (2) years of supervisory OR three (3) years of lead work experience directing the work of housekeeping staff in a large-scale housekeeping operation in a senior living, long-term care, or other healthcare setting.
Applicants who meet the above requirements will be further evaluated based on the following:

Thorough knowledge of modern methods, materials and equipment used in housekeeping including, but not limited, to cleaning, sanitizing, scrubbing, stain removal carpet cleaning, equipment maintenance furniture cleaning and maintenance, wheelchair cleaning, laundry operations, and deodorizing procedures.
- Knowledge of all applicable Department of Health Rules and Regulations, and safety practices.

Knowledge and ability to prepare operating and capital expenditure budgets.

Computer skills (e.g., word-processing, spreadsheet, e-mail, calendar) sufficient to produce reports and correspondences.

Human relations, communication, and conflict resolution skills sufficient to communicate and resolve housekeeping problems and work in conjunction with management to coordinate campus-wide activities related to overall operations in a professional manner.
- Ability to estimate needs, requisition in advance for materials and supplies and keep necessary records.
- Ability to prioritize time and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Three (3) years supervisory experience in housekeeping operations in a senior living, long-term care, or other healthcare setting.

Experience with Long Term Care (LTC) Environmental role.

Experience with Minnesota Department of Health and Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Health inspections.

Experience working with vendors.
-
Experience with budget management.
-
Working experience with safety, sanitation, and environmental standards.
