Summary: The Landscaper is responsible for cultivation and care of the landscaping and grounds for the Russell Ranch, Pierce Ranch and Home Ranch.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Russell Ranch:
- Keeps clean the driveway and around the garage, barn and pump house using the weed eater and Roundup 2-3 times a year or as needed.
- Prunes roses at NE house 2 times a year and sprays roses to prevent disease.
- Mows the lawn at NE house 2 times a month.
- Sprays (kills) wasp nests as needed.
- Performs tractor work as needed (grading, disking, mowing, etc.)
- Regular and predicable attendance is required.
- Ability to get along with and work effectively with others.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Pierce Ranch:
- Mows lawns once a week and performs maintenance on mower to include changing the oil, sharpening the blades, etc.
- Prunes roses, sprays for disease to include roses at the PR rentals and dead heads roses once a week.
- Fertilizes every 6 weeks.
- Prunes trellis (climbing roses) 2 times per year.
- Trims all tall grasses, cuts down branches and removes clippings.
- Fertilizes all flower beds once a year, the lawn 2 times a year and sprays the lawn to kill Bermuda grass every month during the growing season.
- Rakes lawn and hand waters as needed.
- Maintains flower bed sprinklers to ensure they are working properly and replaces sprinkles as needed.
- Assist Housekeeper with light maintenance to include keeping light timers on schedule and changing bulbs as necessary.
- Keeps the driveway clean to include blowing once a week or as needed in the autumn until leaves have all fallen, sprays weeds using weed eater and Roundup, trims branches from trees and blackberry.
- Sprays or uses hoe to kill all new CA Oak trees from fallen acorns.
- Sprays grasses by the irrigation ditch, the road by pasture, the fields and outside the garden by the sheep pasture.
- Waters the wind blocker plants and the orange trees in the orchard.
- Uses weed eater to keep back road clean and sprays Roundup as needed 3-4 times a year.
- Keeps the garden storage area clean and debris free.
- Exercises golf cart and performs regular maintenance to include batteries and water levels.
- Performs routine maintenance on the truck to include checking fluids and tire pressure every 2 weeks, changing the oil and taking the truck in for repairs as needed.
- Opens the gate for the garbage truck 4 days a week and locks the gate once finished.
- Buys needed supplies on way home.
- Sprays (kills) wasp nests around ranch, including rentals, as needed.
- Fixes water leaks around property as needed.
- Assists with putting gopher bait out.
- Washes the fountain south of gazebo once a week.
- Cuts and edges before using the riding mower.
- Weeds all flower beds as needed.
Home Ranch:
- Waters all rose beds by solar clock, entry driveway, fountain and lawn between rose beds.
- Performs basic watering on Monday and Friday.
- Weeds rose beds, dead heads roses once a week and keeps rose beds clean of debris.
- Rakes leaves as needed.
- Uses the edger to rim along the entry once or twice a month.
- Prunes the Japanese Box Wood as needed and waters once a week.
- Constructs new boxes for roses by the pump.
- Fertilizes rose bushes every 6 weeks.
- Fertilizes all lawns once a year.
- Sprays Roundup around the rose beds, gravel or uses the hoe and rake to keep are clean.
- Washes duck pond once a week year round.
- Changes the oil and performs maintenance on the small mower and riding mower 2-3 times a year as well as sharpens mower blades and edger blades as needed.
- Assists CAFF as needed.
- Sprays fungicide to prevent diseases as needed on all roses.
- Keeps lawn valves and sprinkler working and performance maintenance as necessary.
- Prunes all roses, fruit trees and grape vines annually and hauls away all brush.
- Sprays peach trees and grape vines with sulfur.
- Sprays apple and pear trees for Fire blight.
- Sprays nut grasses around rose beds.
- Mows lawn at HR trailer, water and weeds as necessary.
- Purchase all supplies needed on way home.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory duties.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three or more years experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience driving a tractor and lawn mower.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A current CA driver’s license and proof of auto insurance are required.
