SUMMARY: Under general supervision, this position is to operate the scoreboard and maintain records in a scorebook of scheduled games and programs sponsored or coordinated by the Parks and Recreation Department.
This position is specifically for youth baseball and adult softball leagues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Operates a scoreboard, clock, possession arrows and pitch counter in an accurate and efficient manner; understands how to fill out a scorebook accurately.
2. Understand and become familiar with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of game or program of assignment; performs duties free from distractions, such as cell phone or other interruptions.
3. Records all scores, ejections, and major incidents and reports them to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner
4. Maintains a safe work environment; keeps facilities clean; reports any serious discipline problems to the Sports Coordinator; keeps equipment in a safe and operational condition
5. Communicates with site supervisor, the public and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, exchange information or resolve problems
6. Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general supervision of the Sports Coordinator and close supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
1. High School Diploma or currently enrolled.
2. Must be 14 years of age or older.
3. Experience in athletics, sports, recreation.
4. Concussion Recognition and Safe Sport training is required within ninety (90) days of hire and must be renewed annually.
5. Willingness to attend training on sports rules and officiating mechanics throughout the year.
6. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques used in recreational sporting events.
2. Basic understanding of various sports fundamentals.
3. Knowledge of the City of Woodland Parks adapted rules and regulations to each specific sport.
4. Skill in the use of computers and software applications related to the essential functions of the job.
5. Skill in effective communication, both verbally and in writing.
6. Ability to communicate with employees and the public in an effective and courteous manner.
7. Ability to get along with others and work effectively with the public and co-workers.
8. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
9. Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines.

Various sports equipment, scoreboards, whistles, personal transportation, and telephones.
