ABOUT PROJECT VIDA

Our mission is to improve quality of life and reduce health disparities in underserved communities by promoting self-empowerment and providing holistic health education and direct services. Project VIDA was founded in 1992 to address the urgent needs of racial and ethnic minorities. Initially, the organization provided HIV education through street outreach services to area youth. Today, we have expanded our community scope by initiating a variety of programs: direct services for people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS and various prevention and health education programs.

JOB SUMMARY

The Part-Time Registered Dietitian shall provide dietetic assessments and dietary recommendations as part of Project VIDA's Food Pantry and Home Delivered Meals (HDM) program for 8 hours per week This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of evidence-based, medically tailored nutritional support that is culturally relevant and compliant with all funder and city health regulations. The Registered Dietitian sets the clinical standards, coordinates with the Delivery Driver and Manager of Food Pantry Services, and engages in the clinical components of program evaluation and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). This part-time role is expected to connect with clients during daytime, evening, and/or Saturday hours, as needed.

Reporting directly to the Executive Director or Director of Clinical Services, the Registered Dietitian is critical to achieving measurable client outcomes related to chronic disease management and food security.

JOB DUTIES

Clinical Program Management

Designs, develops, and oversees the comprehensive nutritional care delivery system for all clients accessing the HDM and Food Pantry programs
Acts as the agency's Registered Dietitian, utilizing clinical expertise to guide program design and staff training
Leads all client intake and reassessment protocols, including administering the Food Security Improvement Screening at intake and biannually
Collaboratively develops and prescribes individualized Diet Plans and Nutrition Plan Attainment goals for each HDM client, ensuring alignment with diagnosed chronic conditions
Develops and maintains detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the clinical referral, intake, and goal-setting process
Lead the strategic development of billing protocols and workflows necessary to pursue Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, ensuring the long-term viability of the clinical nutrition services component

Quality Assurance (QA)

Coordinates at least monthly with the Manager of Nutrition Services for the development of menus and procurement lists to ensure cultural relevance, dietary diversity, and stock availability for the Food Pantry
Conducts quarterly Food Pantry meal plan and menu audits
Consults with the chef weekly and/or as needed to ensure menu compliance, meal quality, nutritional value, and adherence to specific dietary considerations for the meal preparation classes

Data, Evaluation, & Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)

Records program data as required by city and state guidelines, as well as in accordance with funder practices, so as to document client engagement and outcomes and to be able to prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for clinical outcomes. Verifies the accuracy and validity of data points related to Food Security Improvement and Nutrition Plan Attainment logged in the CMS
Participates in the quarterly CQI review process with the Executive Director, analyzing clinical outcomes and client satisfaction survey results to identify and implement program improvements
Provides input to the clinical sections of all required reports to funders, including the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH), ensuring timely and accurate submission

QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field required
Fluency in English and Spanish is preferred
Active Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) certification/licensure is mandatory
Minimum of 3 years of clinical nutrition and/or public health program management experience
Demonstrated knowledge of medically tailored diets, chronic disease management, and food security assessment tools
Proven experience in program evaluation and/or grant reporting
Proficiency in electronic health records or client management systems (CMS) and Microsoft Office Suite
Reliable transportation is required
Must be willing to work evening, Saturday, and/or daytime hours, as needed
