WECA is a nonprofit organization serving merit shop electrical contractors, their employees and the industry suppliers that support them. In California, WECA offers federal and state-approved Commercial, Residential, and Low Voltage (Voice Data Video and Fire Life Safety) Electrical Apprenticeship programs, a state-approved Electrician Trainee program, certification exam preparation classes, and state-approved continuing education classes for journeyperson electricians and low voltage technicians. In Arizona, WECA offers a federal and state-approved Commercial Electrical Apprenticeship program and continuing education classes for Journeyperson electricians. In Utah, WECA offers a federal and state-approved Commercial Electrical Apprenticeship program. WECA additionally shares its expertise by producing curriculum products and publications for the industry.
Western Electrical Contractors Association (WECA) is seeking an experienced electrical professional who is ready to take the next step in their career by helping train and mentor the next generation of electricians. WECA is a nonprofit organization serving merit shop electrical contractors, their employees, and industry partners, with approved apprenticeship and training programs in Utah, Arizona, and California.

Prior teaching experience is helpful but not required. About the Role
As an Electrical Apprenticeship Instructor, you will teach apprentices and electrical professionals in a hands-on educational environment. This traveling role will be based out of WECA's Utah training facility and will support apprenticeship classes at WECA facilities in Utah, Arizona, and California.
The right candidate will bring practical experience in commercial and residential electrical systems, a strong understanding of electrical theory, and the ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, supportive, and engaging way.
What You'll Do
· Teach electrical apprenticeship courses in classroom, lab, and hands-on training environments.
· Help students connect electrical theory to real-world field application.
· Support safe, effective lab instruction using training aids, lab boards, tools, and equipment.
· Maintain a safe, professional, and well-managed learning environment.
· Coach, tutor, and support students as they develop technical skills and confidence.
· Contribute field expertise to curriculum development, course updates, lab activities, and special projects.
· Use instructional technology, including a Learning Management System, Microsoft Office, and other classroom tools.
· Conduct job site visits to member contractors to support apprenticeship training and stay connected to current field practices.
· Travel as needed to support WECA classes and training locations.
What We're Looking For
· At least five (5) years of verifiable field experience in the electrical or electrical construction industry. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
· Successfully have passed the California State Certification Exam, or the ability to attain within the next six (6) months, pending eligibility.
· Ability to meet the established requirements for California State post-secondary faculty teachers credential or the position to attain credential within one (1) year of start of employment and prior teaching experience desirable.
· Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable city or state inspection requirements.
· Strong knowledge of commercial electrical systems, tools, materials, equipment, installation, repair, and safe work practices.
· Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and adjust instruction to support different learning needs.
· Comfort leading a classroom, managing student expectations, and supporting student success.
· Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Professional, positive, ethical approach when representing WECA with students, staff, contractors, and the broader industry.
· Comfort with basic administrative tasks, recordkeeping, classroom technology, and Microsoft Office tools.
· Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
· Prior formal teaching experience is desirable.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
