Wofford Earthworks, LLC is a Georgia-based civil construction company specializing in grading and excavation, clearing and grubbing, stream restoration, utility installation and repair, erosion control, and retention ponds.

Our team works on commercial grading, site development, utility, environmental, and other civil construction projects throughout Georgia.
We are seeking an experienced Level 2 Foreman to lead assigned field crews and coordinate daily job-site operations. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who has extensive civil construction experience, can confidently operate heavy equipment, and knows how to keep crews safe, productive, and focused on completing quality work.
Position Summary
The Level 2 Foreman leads assigned field crews and coordinates labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, safety, quality, and daily production activities.
Working under the direction of the Field Supervisor and in coordination with the Superintendent and Project Manager, the Level 2 Foreman is responsible for executing project plans safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company and client requirements.
This position is expected to safely operate the heavy equipment required for assigned projects after being appropriately trained, qualified, and authorized by the Company. The Level 2 Foreman also supports the development of Level 1 Foremen and other crew members.
Essential Responsibilities
As a Level 2 Foreman, you will:
- Lead, direct, supervise, and support assigned field crews.
- Coordinate daily labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and production activities.
- Review project plans, specifications, schedules, and scopes of work.
- Plan work to maximize safe and timely project progress.
- Maintain a two-week look-ahead schedule and anticipate upcoming labor, material, and equipment needs.
- Ensure crew productivity remains aligned with the overall project schedule.
- Confirm that Level 1 Foremen and other crew leaders have the labor, materials, equipment, and information necessary to complete assigned work.
- Communicate regularly with the Field Supervisor, Superintendent, and Project Manager regarding project progress, delays, site conditions, safety concerns, and circumstances that may affect the project plan.
- Delegate daily assignments and provide crew members with clear instructions, guidance, feedback, and support.
- Monitor employee attendance and timely arrival and communicate rain days or schedule changes before the start of the workday.
- Address crew concerns and workplace conflicts professionally, responsibly, and constructively.
- Conduct regular tailgate safety meetings.
- Review job hazard analyses, hazard assessments, and safe-work plans with the crew before work begins.
- Promote and enforce the Company’s safety program and applicable OSHA requirements.
- Identify job-site hazards and implement appropriate corrective measures.
- Ensure trenches and excavations are evaluated and protected through appropriate sloping, benching, shoring, shielding, or other approved protective systems.
- Confirm utility locate tickets and utility locations before excavation or digging begins.
- Assist with proper potholing activities, including probing, shoveling, and using hand signals.
- Monitor work for potential quality-control issues and implement necessary corrections.
- Read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, technical drawings, engineering plans, specifications, and scopes of work.
- Use applicable survey equipment to shoot, calculate, and verify grades.
- Participate in meetings with geotechnical representatives, engineers, subcontractors, clients, and other project stakeholders.
- Safely operate excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, skid steers, and other equipment required for assigned projects.
- Operate equipment manually or electronically and perform successive passes to bring surfaces to the specified grade.
- Communicate effectively with ground personnel to prevent injuries, property damage, or equipment damage.
- Complete daily equipment inspection reports.
- Perform routine equipment care, including greasing equipment, cleaning cabs, maintaining filters, and completing other required servicing checks.
- Promptly report equipment damage, repair needs, accidents, incidents, near misses, safety concerns, or suspected equipment problems.
- Follow applicable lockout/tagout procedures.
- Work with the Field Supervisor and Project Manager when investigating job-site damage, incidents, or near misses.
- Complete accurate daily reports for the office management team, including project details and photographs.
- Record working time accurately through the CloudRig application.
- Provide quarterly recommendations regarding crew assignments or adjustments.
- Perform hands-on job-site work as necessary to support the crew and complete the assigned project.
- Adhere to all Wofford Earthworks contractual obligations and client requirements.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in civil construction, earthwork, excavation, grading, underground utilities, or a closely related field.
- At least two years of experience leading, directing, or supervising field crews.
- Demonstrated experience safely operating heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, and skid steers.
- Proficiency in shooting, calculating, and verifying grades using applicable survey or grade-control equipment.
- The ability to read, interpret, and implement construction plans, blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, specifications, and complex engineering plans.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, job-site safety practices, Job Hazard Analysis procedures, and applicable safe-work practices.
- Working knowledge of excavation, trenching, soil classification, sloping, benching, shoring, shielding, and protective-system requirements.
- Knowledge of heavy-equipment capabilities, limitations, inspection procedures, and preventive-maintenance requirements.
- The ability to develop and maintain short-term project schedules, including two-week look-ahead schedules.
- The ability to anticipate labor, material, and equipment needs.
- Demonstrated ability to lead field crews, delegate responsibilities, provide clear instructions, monitor performance, and support employee development.
- Strong planning, time-management, problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
- The ability to manage changing site conditions and multiple priorities while meeting project deadlines.
- The ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, subcontractors, clients, engineers, and other project representatives.
- A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record when operating a company vehicle or driving on company business.
- The ability and willingness to travel to assigned project sites.
An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and experience may be considered.
Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are preferred but not required.
Physical and Work Requirements
This position requires the ability to:
- Work outdoors for extended periods in changing weather and job-site conditions.
- Stand, walk, and remain active throughout long shifts on rough or uneven terrain.
- Safely lift, push, pull, or carry tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Bend, stretch, twist, reach, climb, and maintain balance and posture for extended periods.
- Safely enter, exit, operate, and work around heavy equipment.
- Make precise hand-eye adjustments and maintain spatial awareness.

- Apply basic math when completing site measurements, calculating grades, tracking schedules, and monitoring labor and materials.
