Registered Nurse

Hospice

13 weeks with extension potential

Guaranteed 40 hours

Covering: Worcester, Charlton, Webster, areas

**Please Note: We pay hourly ensuring drive time is paid in addition to mileage.

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Hospice Nurse (Registered Nurse - RN) to provide exceptional end-of-life care to patients in their homes and community settings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nursing, with expertise in palliative and hospice care, demonstrating a commitment to improving quality of life for patients facing serious illnesses. As a Hospice Nurse, you will coordinate patient care, deliver symptom management, and support families through difficult times with professionalism and empathy. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients' lives while working within a multidisciplinary team committed to compassionate care.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, symptom evaluation, and physical examinations to determine care needs.
Develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with hospice standards and patient preferences.
Administer medications including pain management therapies, IV infusions, and other treatments such as botulinum toxin when appropriate.
Provide education to patients and families on disease progression, symptom control, and end-of-life planning.
Collaborate with physicians, social workers, chaplains, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic patient care.
Manage complex symptoms such as acute pain, dyspnea, or agitation using evidence-based interventions.
Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Offer emotional support and guidance to families during difficult times, ensuring respectful communication and cultural sensitivity.

Requirements

Valid RN license in the state of practice with current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Must have wound care
Minimum of two years of nursing experience in hospice
Experience with EMR/EHR systems
Knowledge of ICD-10 coding standards and familiarity with medical documentation practices.
Strong clinical skills in medication administration, IV infusion therapy, aseptic technique, and catheter care.
Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop tailored care plans.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and diverse patient populations including those with developmental disabilities or memory care needs.
Ability to handle emotionally charged situations with professionalism and compassion.
Additional experience in areas such as trauma medicine (Level I/II trauma center), emergency medicine, home & community care, or long-term care settings is advantageous.
