Position Summary
The Logistics Manager is responsible for the daily execution and performance of Your Green Package's B2B logistics operations.
Reporting to the General Manager, this position serves as the on-site leader responsible for translating daily order volume and operational needs into an effective staffing, routing, dispatch, and fleet plan.
The Logistics Manager directly oversees B2B logistics personnel, including Team Leads, drivers, dispatch personnel, and other assigned operational staff. The role is accountable for ensuring routes depart on time, employees are appropriately deployed, deliveries are completed successfully, overtime is controlled, vehicles remain operational, and employees follow Company safety, timekeeping, break, and operational procedures.
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring strong operational judgment, organization, accountability, and the ability to identify and resolve problems before they disrupt service.
Responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day execution of B2B logistics operations from the Company’s facility.
- Review projected order volume, delivery requirements, staffing availability, vehicle availability, and route needs to develop an effective daily operating plan.
- Coordinate employee schedules, start times, route assignments, vehicle assignments, and dispatch based on anticipated workload and operational needs.
- Work to minimize unnecessary last-minute schedule and start-time changes through proactive labor and route planning.
- Adjust staffing and operational plans when order volume, employee call-outs, vehicle issues, customer needs, or other conditions change.
- Ensure routes are appropriately staffed, prepared, and dispatched on time.
- Monitor active routes throughout the day and respond to delays, call-outs, delivery issues, vehicle concerns, customer needs, and other operational disruptions.
- Evaluate route efficiency using order volume, mileage, delivery windows, employee hours, vehicle utilization, and other available operational data.
- Monitor and improve key performance measures, including successful delivery percentage, on-time departures and arrivals, drops per vehicle, deliveries per labor hour, miles per labor hour, labor cost per delivery, route completion, and overtime utilization.
- Maintain a successful delivery rate of at least 95%, excluding customer cancellations and other approved exceptions.
- Monitor employee hours and overtime and identify the underlying causes of recurring overtime, including staffing levels, routing practices, call-outs, late departures, customer delays, and operational inefficiencies.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and labor utilization without compromising safety, employee breaks, timekeeping requirements, customer service, or regulatory compliance.
- Ensure employees are provided required meal and rest periods and accurately record working time in accordance with Company policy and applicable law.
- Conduct regular operational meetings or huddles to communicate staffing, routing, vehicle, customer, safety, and performance priorities.
- Directly supervise assigned B2B Team Leads, drivers, dispatch personnel, and logistics support employees.
- Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for attendance, performance, safety, professionalism, customer service, and compliance with Company procedures.
- Delegate responsibilities effectively and follow up to ensure work is completed accurately and timely.
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, training, and development to employees.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and documented performance discussions with direct reports.
- Develop Team Leads to independently manage assigned employees, routes, shifts, and operational responsibilities.
- Support the onboarding and operational training of new B2B employees.
- Address employee performance, attendance, conduct, and policy concerns promptly and ensure concerns are appropriately documented and escalated.
- Partner with the General Manager and Human Resources regarding coaching, corrective action, performance improvement, employee relations concerns, accommodations, leaves, and other employment matters.
- Provide meaningful input regarding hiring, promotion, advancement, discipline, and separation decisions involving B2B logistics employees.
- Promote a workplace culture focused on accountability, communication, teamwork, professionalism, and safety.
- Maintain visibility into the operational status and availability of all vehicles assigned to B2B operations.
- Ensure required vehicle inspections, pre-trip procedures, maintenance reporting, and fleet documentation are completed.
- Track vehicle maintenance concerns from initial report through resolution and ensure actionable maintenance items are addressed promptly.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, registrations, rentals, towing, and other fleet-related services as necessary.
- Work with approved vendors to minimize vehicle downtime while maintaining appropriate cost controls.
- Identify recurring fleet issues and make recommendations regarding repair, replacement, or operational changes.
- Ensure B2B transportation activities comply with applicable Cannabis Control Commission requirements, Company policies, vehicle requirements, transportation procedures, and safety standards.
- Ensure employees assigned to cannabis transportation meet applicable licensing, registration, driving, training, and Company eligibility requirements.
- Maintain required transportation, vehicle, manifest, security, inventory, inspection, and operational records.
- Ensure accidents, injuries, vehicle incidents, delivery discrepancies, safety concerns, and other reportable events are promptly escalated and documented.
- Monitor compliance with safe-driving expectations and Company fleet and vehicle policies.
- Participate in regulatory, insurance, safety, and operational audits as necessary.
- Coordinate relationships with fleet maintenance, repair, towing, rental, technology, and other logistics-related vendors.
- Monitor vendor performance, service quality, turnaround times, and costs.
- Review logistics-related expenses and identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary spending without negatively affecting safety or service.
- Obtain quotes and recommendations for significant repairs, services, purchases, or vendor changes when appropriate.
- Support departmental budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives.
- Maintain accurate operational records, reports, dashboards, and performance data.
- Provide the General Manager with regular updates regarding staffing, scheduling, overtime, routes, delivery performance, vehicle availability, maintenance, employee performance, safety matters, customer concerns, and other significant operational issues.
- Analyze performance trends and identify opportunities to improve staffing levels, scheduling, routing, fleet utilization, service, cost control, and overall operational efficiency.
- Recommend and implement process improvements in coordination with the General Manager.
- Participate in operational planning and provide recommendations regarding staffing needs, fleet capacity, route design, technology, processes, and future growth.
- Perform other duties reasonably related to the management and operation of the B2B logistics function as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- 3+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, fleet management, delivery operations, or a comparable operational leadership role.
- Previous experience directly supervising employees in an operational environment.
- Demonstrated experience with scheduling, routing, dispatch, and labor planning.
- Experience managing multiple vehicles and field-based employees.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective solutions.
- Ability to manage changing priorities and make effective real-time operational decisions.
- Strong leadership, delegation, coaching, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with fleet management, GPS/telematics, scheduling, routing, and standard business software.
- Ability to work on-site and maintain a regular presence during core B2B operating hours.
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Experience in last-mile delivery, courier, distribution, or similar fleet-based operations.
- Experience working within a regulated industry.
- Massachusetts cannabis-industry experience.
- Familiarity with Cannabis Control Commission transportation requirements.
- Experience managing operating budgets, labor costs, vendors, and fleet expenses.
- Experience developing frontline supervisors or Team Leads.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is an on-site operational leadership position. The Logistics Manager is expected to maintain a regular presence at the facility and be available during critical B2B operating periods.
The position may occasionally require schedule flexibility based on delivery volume, staffing issues, emergencies, vehicle incidents, or other operational needs.
While the Logistics Manager may assist with operational coverage when necessary, the primary responsibility of the position is the management and oversight of B2B logistics operations rather than routinely functioning as a driver or frontline delivery employee.
