Worcester RISE is seeking compassionate and dedicated Family Support Home Visitor to join our growing team.
Join Worcester RISE as we expand Parent as Teachers (www.parentsasteachers.org) to ensure refugee, immigrant, and multilingual families have equitable access to evidence-based early childhood supports. Through home visits, family activities, and connections to community resources, Parent as Teachers helps parents/caregivers build the knowledge, confidence, and support they need so their young children can thrive.

We are especially committed to serving refugee, immigrant, and families who arrived to the US less than 5 years ago and are living in the Worcester area.
This is an exciting opportunity to help launch a new program while making a lasting difference in the lives of young children and their families.
Position Details
- Full-time and part-time positions available
- Home visits throughout Worcester and surrounding communities
- Flexible scheduling, including some afternoon or evening hours to meet family needs
- Parent as Teachers Foundational Training provided after hire
- Ongoing reflective supervision, coaching, and professional development
Responsibilities
1. Family Engagement and Home Visiting
- Build trusting, respectful relationships with families through regular home visits and ongoing communication.
- Provide family-centered, strengths-based home visiting services following the Parent as Teachers model.
- Partner with parents/ caregivers to identify family strengths, set meaningful goals, and celebrate progress over time.
- Support families in building positive parents/ caregivers-child relationships through play, learning activities, and everyday routines.
- Adapt services to meet each family's culture, language, values, and priorities.
- Maintain regular contact with assigned families and provide services over an extended period to support long-term family success.
2. Child Development and Parent Support
- Share information and activities that help parents/caregivers understand their child's growth and development from pregnancy through kindergarten.
- Support parents/ caregivers in building confidence and parenting skills that promote healthy child development, school readiness, and family well-being.
- Complete developmental screenings, family assessments, and other Parent as Teachers tools according to program requirements.
- Observe children's development and discuss concerns with families in a supportive and respectful manner.
3. Family Support and Community Connections
- Help families identify their needs and connect them with community resources, including healthcare, early education, housing, food, employment, legal services, behavioral health, and other supports.
- Work alongside families to strengthen protective factors, increase social connections, and build long-term stability.
- Collaborate with community partners to help families access high-quality services.
4. Group Connections and Community Engagement
- Plan and facilitate parents/ caregivers groups, family activities, and community events that strengthen parenting skills and reduce social isolation.
- Encourage families to build supportive relationships with one another and become active members of their community.
- Participate in outreach activities to connect with families who may benefit from Parent as Teachers services.
5. Documentation and Program Quality
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of all family visits, assessments, referrals, and services provided.
- Complete required documentation and enter information into program databases according to agency and Parent as Teachers standards.
- Monitor family progress and update family goals as needed.
- Assist with collecting program data and outcome information to support continuous quality improvement.
6. Collaboration and Professional Growth
- Participate in reflective supervision, team meetings, case consultation, and ongoing professional development.
- Complete Parent as Teachers Foundational and Model Implementation Training within required timeframes.
- Follow Worcester RISE policies and Parent as Teachers model standards.
- Recognize and report concerns related to child safety in accordance with Massachusetts law and agency policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support families and the success of the program.
Qualifications
Required
- Passion and dedication to supporting and advocating for new arrivals is required
- Lived experience as refugee and immigrant (first or second generation) preferred
- Fluency in English and another language commonly spoken by families in our community, including Haitian Creole, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Arabic, Swahili, Dari, or other high-need languages.
- High school diploma or GED with at least two years of experience working with young children and families, or an associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education, social work, psychology, human services, public health, education, or a related field.
- Experience building positive relationships with children and families.
- Commitment to providing strengths-based, family-centered, and culturally responsive services.
- Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfort and familiarity with discussing emotional health topics in accessible and strengths-based ways
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Office, and electronic documentation systems.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout Worcester and surrounding communities (mileage will be reimbursed).
- Ability to successfully complete all required background checks, including a Massachusetts CORI check.
Preferred
- Experience providing home visiting, family support, case management, parent education, early childhood services, or community outreach.
- Knowledge of child development from pregnancy through age five.
- Experience working with refugee, immigrant, multilingual, or culturally diverse communities.
- Experience using trauma-informed and strengths-based practices.
