Registered or Certified Medical Assistant
Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm
Job Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Room & interview patients, measure vital signs (including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature), and accurately and thoroughly document all information in patient’s electronic medical record
- Assist physician in exam rooms
- Perform basic lab testing such as urine dipsticks and pregnancy tests
- Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or midwife
- Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, sterilization as required
- Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls under the instruction of physicians and midwife
- Triage and process messages from patients to physicians; schedule appointments appropriately.
- Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
Skills/Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.
- Previous experience preferred.
- Careful listening, critical thinking, and sharp clinical judgement
- High level of sensitivity, empathy, professionalism, and strict confidentiality
- Extremely organized and focused
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cordial working relationships with patients, medical staff, and co-workers, treating all with dignity and respect
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and arithmetic
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced medical office

Education/Experience:
- High school diploma/GED;
- Current unexpired Medical Assistant Certification/Registration; and
- One year of clinical experience in a physician's office or hospital preferred; OB/GYN experience an asset.
