Full Job Description

Northeast Vehicle Services is a premier provider of logistical support for the Boston area. We are seeking a Operations Supervisor to assist in leading a team and overseeing the functional process of the vehicle handling operation on a full-time basis.

The Operations Supervisor role requires a safety conscious mindset to oversee and facilitate the workload requirements of the vehicle unloading functions at Northeast Vehicle Services. The Operations Supervisor must follow through on all production aspects efficiently and safely while instilling in the team, the importance of teamwork and attention to detail. Included in this role’s function will be to facilitate and perform, unloading vehicles off rail cars, mount or demount of chassis, drive/transport units from rail site and designated parking assignments and follow through on all direction based on forecasting and planning necessary to devise an accurate daily plan.

The Operations Supervisor must be proficient in the operation and must be lead the team to operate Safely, efficiently, with a focus on quality to conform to client’s requirements and commitments. The Operations Supervisor must become knowledgeable of the operations involving the vehicle services functionality and communicate clearly to the team to assure accurate execution. Responsibilities:

The Operations Supervisor provides supervisory support for the shift employees and has the responsibility for the success of the offloading process from beginning to completion of shift. Communicates effectively and promptly with employees and Terminal Manager. Understanding business etiquette and utilizing it in emails is expected. The Operations Supervisor will work as a member and facilitator of the team to schedule and coordinate the workload as directed based on the business needs.

The scope of the Operations Supervisor responsibilities will include the following duties and tasks:

· Schedules employees and coordinates lunch & breaks daily.

· Facilitate pre-shift job briefings to include work schedules, daily work plan, safety awareness, and any other updates. Develop daily plan; inspectors, shuttle drivers, training/buddy needs, special projects, etc.

· Perform securement quality audits as required in respect to unloading of vehicles and maintain audit records Communicates and works together with any railroad representatives (if applicable).

· Ensure accurate records are continually maintained for the organization of containers / trailers / chassis in the yard inventory

· Observes associates throughout shift, providing guidance and corrections as needed, ensuring company, manufactures, and AAR vehicle handling standards and procedures are followed.

· At all times wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure staff conformity

Requirements:

The Operations Supervisor position is defined to have the following qualifications:

· High School diploma and at least 2 years’ experience in logistics and/or operational role with safety as main focus(management preferred)

· Must be able to safely operate vehicles with either a standard and/or automatic transmission

· Must have and maintain valid Driver’s license with a clear motor vehicle record.

· Ability to pass background check and pre-employment drug test

· Must be able to properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment.

· Knowledgeable in running, maneuvering and minor repairs on all equipment, to include all vehicles, shuttles and railroad/railcars, movement of equipment safely throughout the facility, and parking in the assigned designated areas.

· Ability to accurately maintain documentation required for vehicle services compliance & performance measurements

· Proven ability to manage, develop, and lead a team to successfully execute the workload and demands in a fast paced environment

· Ability to adjust to changing facility demands successfully to include variances due to seasonal increases, disrupted work schedules, service interruption, derailments, weather, inventory constraints, equipment constraints and any other industry demands

· May work directly or indirectly with hazardous materials.

· May be exposed to noise/fumes from diesel engines, air brake equipment, horns, radios and other normal equipment found in & around railroads/railcars.

· Ability to bend, squat, lift up to 50lbs. and climb ladders.

· We are a drug-free workplace and employees will be subject to random drug tests as well as post-accident drug/alcohol testing.

Hours:

Northeast Vehicle Services is a 24/7/365 operation. This role is a full-time position working non-standard hours (2nd shift) that may include nights, weekend and holidays as required by the business needs. Occasionally, the role can require extended work hours, to include being available for on call duty as needed.
