The Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene seeks a Front Desk/Clinic Assistant to support the dental clinic and front desk operations during its afternoon and evening hours in the Worcester clinic. The ideal candidate will work with patients, faculty, staff, and students regarding scheduling needs for clinical sessions, address front desk/patient needs, and oversee clinical operations. This is a part-time position, 20 hours a week (Monday – Thursday, 3pm – 8pm).
- Greet and welcome patients; manage check in/out process.
- Schedule and confirm appointments with clinic patients.
- Collect payments, manage documents, and print receipts.
- Manage sterilization area and processing of student instruments/cassettes.
- Assist students with proper equipment use and inform Clinic Manager of any issues.
- Assist with student instrument kit distribution.
- Communicate with MCPHS facilities and enter work orders as necessary.
- Work with Clinic Manager to maintain logs and other DPH documents.
- Oversee students with instrument processing and clinic related duties.
- Assist Clinic Manager with order lists, putting away orders, and rotating stock.
- Perform biological monitoring of sterilizers and maintain related logs.
- Communicate with Associate Dean and Clinic Manager reporting any issues with the clinic operations including equipment failure, inventory control, and faculty/student issues.
- Manage patient exit surveys.
- Assist in managing the recall list, so patients receive timely re-care appointments.
- Communicate with MCPHS security about parking list for patients.
- Inform Front Desk Administrator about any patient record transfer requests.
- Responsibly closes up clinic on evenings when they are last to leave.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Required:
- High school diploma
- Previous relevant experience as a licensed dental assistant in a dental clinic setting
- Current MA Dental Assisting license including infection control training and CPR
- HIPAA training/certification will be offered and required upon hire
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with patients, students, and dental team members.
- Adequate computer skills with ability to effectively communicate via email and learn use of software platforms for purposes of scheduling appointments and managing patient needs.
- Strong organization skills and ability to accurately maintain clinic documents
Preferred:
- Formally trained with dental office experience.
- Knowledge of required documentation for dental public health settings very desirable.
- Knowledge of dental equipment and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Must be ambulatory and able to spend 5-6 hours per day walking around clinical setting.
- Must be able to don PPE and perform clinical duties for 5-6 hours each day.
Compensation:
The pay range associated with this posting reflects the amount the University reasonably expects to pay for this role at this time. Salary offers are determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications as well as internal equity, market data and pay in comparison to similarly situated employees doing comparable work.
Hiring Range: $24.84 - $27.58/hour
