Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Field Account Executive to drive growth in our railcar subscription business throughout the Central Region of North America. This role is responsible for developing new customer relationships, expanding existing accounts, identifying market opportunities, and increasing recurring subscription revenue.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong relationship-building skills, experience in consultative sales, territory development, and a passion for helping customers solve operational challenges. Success in this role requires a combination of strategic thinking, prospecting, excellent customer service, and the ability to develop long-term partnerships with transloading terminal operators, rail shippers, and industrial customers.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Growth

Develop and execute territory growth plans to increase subscription revenue.
Identify and prospect new customers through cold calling, networking, referrals, and industry outreach.
Generate and qualify leads within target industries.
Conduct customer discovery meetings to understand operational needs and identify opportunities.
Present subscription solutions and value propositions to prospective customers.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements.

Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers at multiple levels of their organizations.
Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact.
Conduct regular customer visits to strengthen partnerships and identify expansion opportunities.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure exceptional customer experience and retention.
Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally.

Territory Development

Develop market penetration strategies for assigned geographic regions.
Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer needs.
Identify underserved accounts and emerging opportunities.
Maintain a healthy sales pipeline through proactive prospecting and account management.

Industry Engagement

Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, association meetings, and customer events.
Build relationships with industry stakeholders and influencers.
Increase company visibility and market awareness within the rail transportation sector.

Account Growth & Retention

Drive renewal and expansion of existing subscription agreements.
Identify opportunities for upselling additional services and solutions.
Monitor customer satisfaction and retention metrics.
Support long-term customer success initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of business development, territory management, account management, or consultative sales experience.
Demonstrated success generating new business through prospecting and cold calling.
Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
Experience managing a geographic sales territory.
Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to travel for customer meetings and trade shows.
Strong organizational and CRM management skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Preferred Experience

Railcar, transportation, logistics, industrial services, equipment leasing, fleet management, or subscription-based business experience.
Experience selling recurring revenue or subscription services.
Familiarity with rail industry operations and customer buying processes.
Experience working with large enterprise or industrial accounts.
