Full Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Catering Chef to prepare food for special events including fundraising banquets, dinner theater, corporate meetings, and private events; for groups of 30-400 guests. Hours are as needed, for museum events and facility rental client requests. Workload averages 20 hours per month; some months heavier than others. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary expertise and prepare delicious food for a variety of audiences. Food preparation can be on-site in the Museum's commercial kitchen or in an off-site commercial kitchen, or a combination. The Catering Chef will report to the Museum Event Manager, and will collaborate with her to plan menus, source ingredients, ensure food safety standards, and manage timelines for food prep and serving. Compensation will be based on qualifications, and can be hourly or by the event.

Duties

Lead the planning and development of diverse menus tailored to client specifications, event themes, and dietary needs.
Oversee all food preparation activities, ensuring consistent quality, presentation, and adherence to recipes.
Lead ingredient sourcing, inventory management, and cost management to optimize resources.
Collaborate with Event Manager to ensure seamless execution of catering services from setup to service delivery.
Maintain strict compliance with food safety regulations and sanitation standards.

Requirements

Proven experience in banquet catering or large-scale food production environments.
Knowledge of food handling, cooking techniques, menu planning, and kitchen management.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work well with others and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Familiarity with hospitality standards, restaurant management practices, and catering industry best practices.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
