Salary: $45,114 per year. Final compensation is based on factors such as the skills, qualifications, and experience.
Essential Functions:
Manage Rental Groups:
- Oversee the overall program quality of rental groups
- Be a steady point of contact for group leaders and respond to their questions in no more than 1 business day.
- Develop appropriate programming as needed for each rental group.
- Schedule the appropriate number of staff keeping in mind safe participant to staff ratios and specific operating procedures in each area of camp.
- Create accurate contracts and track the necessary paperwork for each group.
- Work with the Office Specialist to ensure that the payment records are up to date.
- Coordinate with facilities and kitchen staff to ensure group’s needs are being met.
- Run, or appoint a staff member to run, each meal, ensuring there is an opening and closing to the meals and that all participants know how to bus and clean their tables efficiently and effectively.
Manage Family Camps
- Oversee the overall program quality of family camps.
- Develop or acquire the necessary materials for programs success.
- Continue to be a point of contact throughout the year for questions, responding in no more than 1 business day.
- Assist with maintaining accurate payment records and secure payments in full prior to commencement of programs.
- Work with the Office Specialist to ensure that payments are up to date and accurate.
- Organize the special evening activities associated with Family Camp.
- Coordinate with facilities and kitchen staff to ensure family camper’s needs are being met.
- Run, or appoint a staff member to run, each meal, ensuring there is an opening and closing to the meals and that all participants know how to bus and clean their tables efficiently and effectively.
- Oversee marketing to former and prospective family campers.
Manage Conference Work Crew and Family Camp Staff
- Schedule staff to meet group needs – keeping in mind appropriate staff to participant ratios in some program areas.
- Ensure that incoming staff have completed all required Hire Paperwork in an appropriate time frame PRIOR to their arrival at camp.
- Provide ongoing feedback and support for staff as they deliver programming.
- Regularly review expectations with staff taking into account the unique needs of certain groups.
- Train hosts to work with groups during their stay as evening contacts.
- Enable hosts to be effective by providing them all of the information up front for the group.
- Assist and/or run staff trainings on various programs around camp.
- Develop an evaluation system appropriate for staff and taking into consideration time constraints in the busy weeks of the year.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
- Physical and mental endurance to respond during an emergency.
- At least 2 years of staff management.
- At least 2 years of program delivery.
- Van driver training (provided by Tockwogh).
- Ability to lift 80 lbs.
- Can work long days (8-12 hours) involving significant amounts of physical and mental labor (standing, walking, lifting, carrying, using tools, etc.).
- Can communicate effectively with people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds (including racial, national, ethnic, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic).
- Level I Challenge Course facilitator certification preferred.
- Required to live on camp property.
- Required to perform job duties on weekends, holidays and evenings and will be part of a rotating schedule of directors to be on duty 24 hours/day throughout the summer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ellis Instructor.
- Level 2 Challenge Course Facilitator Certification
- Waterfront program delivery is preferred (sailing, boating, skiing).
- Experience developing or delivering outdoor education and challenge course programs preferred.
