Full Job Description

Westerman, an employee-owned enterprise, operates multiple manufacturing sites that produce equipment for production and storage in the oil, gas, and nuclear sectors. Our equipment is designed to enhance well pad design, increase separation efficiency, and reduce overall equipment costs through advanced surface separation and processing technology. We are establishing new benchmarks for performance and economic efficiency across the nation.

This role is based in Casper, WY, at our JW Williams facility, which is part of Westerman, Inc. This position requires employees to work on-site in the shop. Candidates must reside in Casper or within a reasonable commuting distance. Westerman, Inc. does provide a relocation package, which can be discussed upon offer of employment.

SUMMARY

The Welder is responsible for setting up and operating advanced welding equipment, using their expertise to reduce downtime, scrap, and rework. They are tasked with repairing defective products to high-quality standards and ensuring all work strictly follows specifications. This safety-sensitive role requires a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and the ability to multi-task to maintain quality benchmarks.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Consistent and punctual attendance is an essential responsibility of every position and is critical to both individual effectiveness and team performance. Employees are expected to maintain regular attendance and arrive at work on time.

· Structural steel: erecting, aligning, fitting, bolting, riveting, welding, and dismantling beams, columns, girders, and frames.

· Rigging and hoisting: attaching loads to cranes, assembling rigging, signaling operators, and positioning heavy steel.

· Welding: performing electric, gas, arc, and single-hand welding in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.

· Industrial fabrication: fabricating and fitting separators, glycol absorbers, vessels, piping, flow coils, heaters, reboilers, coolers, accumulators, skids, and combustors.

· Precision layout and inspection: using squares, calipers, micrometers, rulers, and other measuring instruments to meet specifications.

· Weld quality: producing welds capable of passing X-ray/radiographic, hydrostatic, dimensional, and other quality tests.

· Metalworking: cutting, bending, grinding, filing, scraping, and preparing steel components.

· Pipe fitting: fitting and securing piping and related components.

· Lead work: melting and incorporating lead into joints and repairing lead piping, valves, floors, and tank linings.

· Blueprint interpretation: determining material locations, quantities, dimensions, and fabrication requirements from plans and supervisor instructions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Precision and attention to detail: Produces accurate welds, cuts, lines, and finished components.

· Blueprint interpretation: Reads and understands technical drawings, specifications, dimensions, and the intended finished configuration.

· Weld and structural inspection: Recognizes welding defects, structural deficiencies, and problems in fabricated metal components.

· Tool and equipment selection: Determines which hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other machinery are appropriate for each job.

· Quality assurance: Performs or participates in inspections and testing to verify that work meets required quality and performance standards.

· Equipment maintenance: Performs routine maintenance and identifies when equipment requires servicing or repair.

· Metallurgy and welding knowledge: Understands the characteristics and behavior of different metals, as well as welding rods, electrodes, and fluxes used in fabrication and repair.

· Occupational safety: Understands hazards associated with welding, fabrication, rigging, cutting, and heavy industrial work and follows applicable safety procedures.

· Safe work practices: Uses power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and other machinery correctly and safely.

QUALIFICATIONS

The requirements outlined below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities necessary for the position. TO BE CONSIDERED FOR STRUCTURAL WELDER POSITION:

· Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

· Experience: At least 1 year of welding experience.

· Weld test: You must pass a 3G plate weld assessment using two welding processes, including visual and bend-test acceptance.

· Physical ability: Able to work long shifts standing/sitting, lift up to 50 lbs., and frequently bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, and stoop.

· Work environment: Must be able to work in hot/cold conditions, on uneven surfaces, in confined spaces when required, and throughout the plant/grounds.

· Skills: Must be able to read instructions, use measuring equipment, manipulate welding tools/components, and have adequate vision, hearing, depth perception, and focus.

PPE: Must be able to wear required protective equipment, including a seatbelt.
