Full Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Acute Dialysis Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and experience in patient care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This role requires a strong commitment to providing high-quality, safe, and dialysis care to patients in acute hospital settings.

Duties:

Respond to acute dialysis calls and provide treatment no later than two hours after the medical order.
Provide dialysis treatment according to medical orders, evaluating laboratory results, and medical condition of the patient.
Document the patient's response to the dialysis treatment with a progress note on the flowsheet.
Report incidents of patient complications to the company and the Hospital.
Plan nursing care for dialysis, using the nursing process.
Monitor and manage complications during dialysis treatment and notify the physician.
Take laboratory samples according to medical orders.
Administer blood transfusion or prescribed medication during dialysis treatment, using established Atlantis and hospital protocols.
Report treatment results and stay in continuous communication with the patient's physician.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in the area where dialysis is provided (intensive care unit, etc.), complying with established standards.
Maintain good relationships with hospital patients, families, employees, and supervisors.
Provide census report, admissions, and documentation necessary for billing.
Maintain disinfection control of dialysis machines according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
Collaborate with the dialysis coordinator and with the hospital the supplies orders.
Maintain dialysis equipment in optimal condition and notify in writing of defective equipment that requires repair

Skills:

Ability to identify problems, make decisions and solve clinical situations.
Skill and knowledge in the coordination and supervision of nursing care for patients.
Ability to use critical judgment and act with diligence and pressure in decision-making.
Ability to tolerate work pressures or unexpected risk situations.
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with patients, relatives, colleagues, and the general public.
Must have knowledge in: Infection Control, Disaster Plan, Risk Communication, Job Safety and Security, Back Care, and Health, Insurance, Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
Skills in patient assessment, medication administration, phlebotomy, and vital signs monitoring.
