Lead CAD Technician

The Role
As a Lead CAD Technician, you will apply your technical CAD expertise to produce detailed, high-quality drawings with minimal supervision. Working closely with engineers and project teams, you will contribute to technically complex civil infrastructure projects that support utility, pipeline, and trenchless construction initiatives.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong capability in AutoCAD Civil 3D. You will support the preparation of comprehensive drawing packages, help maintain drafting standards, and contribute to improving CAD workflows across the team.
As a senior technical contributor, you may also provide informal mentoring and guidance to less experienced technicians, helping maintain high standards of quality and consistency across deliverables.

What It Takes
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in drafting or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
8+ years of CAD design/drafting experience (flexible for strong technical profiles)
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
Solid understanding of civil design principles, including alignments, profiles, and plan production
Working knowledge of GIS elements, coordinate systems, spatial data, and projections
Basic understanding of VBA or simple scripting to support workflow efficiency
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
