Position Summary:
The Custodial/Inventory Coordinator supports Head Start and Early Head Start program operations by coordinating inventory, removing and relocating items, and assisting with general custodial needs across program centers. Based at the Program Office, this position is dispatched to centers as needed to help maintain clean, safe, organized, and well-supplied facilities. The coordinator works closely with center custodians and program staff to support inventory control, proper storage, and the efficient distribution or disposal of materials and equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinates and responds to custodial and inventory support needs at Head Start and Early Head Start centers as assigned.
- Assists center custodians with general cleaning, sanitation, and facility-related duties to maintain safe, clean, and orderly environments.
- Receives, organizes, stores, tracks, and distributes program supplies, furniture, equipment, and other inventory.
- Maintains accurate inventory records and conducts periodic physical inventory counts to identify shortages, excess items, or discrepancies.
- Removes, transports, relocates, and properly stores or disposes of unwanted, damaged, or surplus items in accordance with agency procedures.
- Delivers supplies, materials, furniture, and equipment from the Program Office to designated Head Start and Early Head Start locations.
- Monitors inventory levels and communicates supply, equipment, replacement, and custodial needs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follows established safety procedures for lifting, moving equipment, handling cleaning chemicals, operating tools, and using personal protective equipment.
- Inspects assigned storage and custodial areas to promote appropriate organization, sanitation, accessibility, and compliance with safety requirements.
- Communicates and works collaboratively with center custodians, managers, program staff, vendors, and other departments to address facility and inventory needs efficiently.
- Performs duties in accordance with applicable Head Start Performance Standards, health and safety requirements, agency policies and procedures, and other applicable regulations.
- Performs other related duties and special assignments as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor and Facilities Director to support Head Start and Early Head Start program operations.

Conditions of Employment:
Prior to employment, complete a pre-employment drug screen, Tb skin test by an EPIC approved healthcare provider at no cost to the employee.
Pre-employment basic physical by an EPIC healthcare provider (obtain within (30) days of employment and no cost to the employee).
Must pass an initial and periodic background check through the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF) in Merit.
Provide proof of MMR vaccination and/ or resistance to Measles, Mumps & Rubella.
Current Food Handlers card.
Current First Aid/CPR card.
Prior to the first day, complete Health & Safety training certificates through DCYF student training portal.

1. Associates degree in related field, OR, combination of education and/or relevant work experience.
2. At least one year of experience in custodial work, facilities support, inventory control, warehousing, maintenance, or a related field.
3. Ability to organize, track, receive, store, distribute, relocate, and dispose of supplies, furniture, and equipment.
4. Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate electronic or written inventory records.
5. Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, proper chemical handling, sanitation procedures, and workplace safety requirements.
6. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, move furniture and equipment, bend, reach, climb stairs or ladders, and perform physically demanding work throughout the workday, with or without reasonable accommodation.
7. Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and respond to custodial and inventory needs at multiple locations.
8. Possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation and required auto insurance.
9. Knowledge of HVAC systems is a plus.
