Full Job Description

We are a small medical (neurology) office. We have been here in Yakima for 29 years. We are known for our attention to detail, remarkable quality of care, time spent with each patient visit and consistent ease of contact and great patient and family communication. We have had 3 receptionists over the last 29 years. So we want someone with job stability and we want you to really enjoy the job. You will be the "face" of the office and will create impressions on patients and callers that are incredibly important to the success of the office.

We are hiring for a part time receptionist for 20-28 hours per week. But depending on your availability and skills, work hours could be more.

Responsibilities include greeting and checking patients in, answering the phone, scheduling appointments, screening and scheduling requests from physician offices for neurology consultations, arranging for additional testing for patients (such as CTs, MRIs, EEGs, Lab testing, consultations with other specialists, etc.), taking messages, responding to patient questions, relaying medical information and test results to patients as directed by the physician, creating and maintaining patient charts, creating and updating patient information in the computer, filing, verifying insurance eligibility and patient benefits, obtaining authorization for medical visits and prescribed medications, refilling medications, posting patient encounters, insurance billing, mailing patient statements, obtaining medical records and imaging studies, ordering medical and office supplies, etc. You may also assist with some office procedures.

While we do not require you to be bilingual, it is a plus for scheduling and communicating with our Spanish speaking patients and translation services are needed occasionally. (We schedule official translator services whenever possible.)

Qualifications:

Minimum of a high school diploma
One year's experience as a receptionist is preferred. (This would not have to be in a medical office...)
Bilingual (English/Spanish) would be great
Ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, with frequent interruptions
Ability to interact with patients in a professional manner
Ability to deliver outstanding customer service
Basic knowledge of healthcare insurance billing preferred
Basic proficiency with the use of the computer is required including programs such as medical scheduling, Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of QuickBooks is a plus as well.
