Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist to join our team! In this vital role, you will be the backbone of our financial operations, ensuring accurate record-keeping, seamless payroll processing, and compliance with accounting standards. Your expertise will help maintain the financial health of our organization, supporting both day-to-day transactions and strategic financial initiatives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a passionate team dedicated to excellence in financial management.

Responsibilities

Manage full-cycle bookkeeping duties, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
Process payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely payments while adhering to all applicable tax laws and payroll regulations.
Prepare and record journal entries, perform account analysis, and reconcile balance sheets to ensure data integrity across all financial records.
Maintain compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant accounting standards for nonprofit or governmental organizations as applicable.
Generate detailed financial reports, including budgets, financial statements, and audit documentation to support organizational transparency and decision-making.
Conduct regular account reconciliations, including bank statement matching and account analysis to identify discrepancies or errors promptly.
Assist with tax preparation activities and ensure all financial transactions are properly documented for audits or reviews.

Experience

Proven experience as a bookkeeper or payroll specialist with a strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles.
Hands-on experience working with multiple accounting systems such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and nonprofit accounting practices is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of payroll processing procedures, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work with spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data analysis and reporting purposes.
Excellent attention to detail combined with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of technical accounting concepts such as journal entries, account analysis, general ledger reconciliation, and budgeting is essential.
