Position Summary:
The Addiction Wellness Coach is responsible for providing peer-based coaching and ongoing support to improve the well-being of individuals impacted by addiction. Based in the Yankton area, this position will primarily provide on-site coaching at correctional facilities in Yankton and Springfield, along with remote coaching for individuals in other communities. This role offers a unique opportunity to support behavior change and addiction wellness using peer-based connection, evidence-informed practices, and data. Regular travel between Yankton and Springfield will be required, with mileage reimbursement provided.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
On-Site Coaching at Correctional Facilities:
- Serve as a primary coach, assessing member needs, developing objectives, and engaging them through the change and wellness process.
- Provide in-person coaching at prison facilities in Yankton and Springfield on a scheduled basis.
- Collaborate with facility staff to ensure coaching services align with institutional protocols and member needs.
In-Office, Remote, and Community-Based Coaching:
- Provide coaching services from the Sioux Falls office and through virtual sessions (phone or video) to individuals across South Dakota.
- Engage with the local Yankton community to offer in-person coaching, participate in outreach efforts, and collaborate with partner organizations.
- Assist in increasing the conversion rate of enrolled coaching members who are paying, covered by grant funding, or have an approved sponsorship as set by annual Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Document member care accurately and completely in the tracking software.
- Educate yourself on topics relevant to coaching, such as boundary setting, communication skills, neurobiology of addiction, emotional regulation, and self-talk techniques.
- Participate in community-based events and represent Face It TOGETHER in media engagements, as approved by the communications team.
- Engage in special projects and duties as assigned by leadership.
Training and Certification:
- Complete and maintain Face It TOGETHER Addiction Wellness Coach Certification. This includes participation in all continuing education sessions (in-person or online).
- Meet NAADAC certification requirements by the end of the first year and maintain ongoing certification.
- Participate in regular coaching supervision and performance evaluation reviews.
Qualifications:
- Personal experience with addiction.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in typing, Microsoft Office, and comfortable with multiple technology platforms.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Non-judgmental approach and ability to build trust with clients.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time independently in a hybrid work environment.
- Capacity to collaborate with a team of coaches, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
- Commitment to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for clients.
Physical Requirements:
- Work involves sitting, standing, and walking most of the time.
- Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Requires repetitive movements of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Ability to communicate orally and read and understand written directions.
