As an Insurance Market Conduct Examiner 1 with the Pennsylvania Insurance Department, you'll help protect consumers by ensuring insurance companies follow state and federal laws. Your work helps improve fairness, accountability, and confidence in Pennsylvania's insurance industry.

Whether your background is in claims, underwriting, investigations, compliance, financial analysis, or insurance operations, your experience could make a meaningful impact.

What You'll Do

Every day is different. You will:

Review insurance company records, claims, complaints, and business practices.
Analyze data and identify trends using random sampling techniques.
Assist with interviews of insurance company representatives.
Gather evidence and document examination findings.
Review compliance with Pennsylvania and federal insurance laws.
Help prepare reports and communicate examination results.
Work alongside experienced examiners while developing specialized regulatory expertise.

Your work helps ensure insurance companies operate fairly and consumers receive the protections they deserve.

Do You Qualify?

You must have:

One year of professional experience in insurance market conduct examinations, insurance company financial examinations, insurance investigations, insurance financial analysis, insurance underwriting, insurance policy review and analysis, insurance claims administration, or insurance sales; and a bachelor's degree; OR
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday-Friday
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., 60-minute lunch
Alternate work schedule available.

Hybrid Telework

After training, you may have the opportunity to telework up to three days per week from an approved Pennsylvania location with secure high-speed internet access.
Employees who do not telework will report to the department headquarters in Harrisburg.
Telework opportunities are subject to operational needs and may change.
