JOB SUMMARY: The Procurement Manager is a strategic and technical oriented leader responsible for leading the procurement function for Taylor-Winfield Technologies, Inc. in support of an OEM manufacturing environment. This role extends beyond purchasing to building and strengthening the vendor base, improving supplier quality and performance, driving cost savings, and ensuring material availability across manufacturing, aftermarket, and capital equipment order demands. The position requires strong technical knowledge of complex manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and supplier capabilities, along with the leadership ability to develop a high-performing team of technical buyers, partner cross-functionally across the business, and drive continuous improvement throughout the supply chain.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Procurement Strategy, Planning & Execution
o Lead procurement planning and execution using ERP and production schedules to support manufacturing and aftermarket demand.
o Manage daily purchasing activity and team workload to maintain responsiveness and execution quality.
o Negotiate and manage supplier pricing agreements, commercial terms, and cost-reduction initiatives.
o Monitor spending and procurement metrics to support budget targets and total cost improvements.
o Ensure 95% or greater on-time delivery of quality goods and services to eliminate bottlenecks in Manufacturing and Aftermarket.
o Develop sourcing strategies domestically and globally that reduce risk and support business priorities.
o Track and report key procurement metrics to support data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.
Supplier Management, Risk & Quality
o Continue building our Vendor Management program alongside our quality team by leading supplier onboarding, evaluation, and performance management through structured assessments and scorecards.
o Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including single-source and lead-time exposure.
o Develop and apply should-cost analysis by leveraging technical knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, and tolerance requirements to validate supplier quotes, challenge unnecessary cost drivers with Engineering, and negotiate from a technically informed, data-backed position to ensure accurate pricing and manufacturable specifications.
o Partner with Quality to address supplier issues, drive corrective actions, and support supplier development.
o Apply technical knowledge of drawings and specifications to support sourcing decisions.
o Build strong relationships with key suppliers and internal partners across the business.
Inventory Management
o Drive procurement and inventory strategies that ensure the right materials are available at the right time, support manufacturing and aftermarket responsiveness, and protect cash flow through disciplined purchasing, reduced excess inventory, and improved supplier performance, including developing and expanding vendor-managed inventory and supplier replenishment strategies for appropriate parts and commodities.
o Work with Operations and Aftermarket to plan inventory levels and maintain appropriate reorder points and bin stock levels.
o Manage slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory in alignment with business goals and demand forecasts.
· Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen TWTs good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, and competitors; to act consistently with our core values: Act with Integrity, Be the Solution, and Crossing Boundaries.
· Act as an active servant leader within TWT and lead the Purchasing group.
o Translate company directives, goals, and targets into clear departmental priorities, expectations, and execution plans that are understood and delivered by the entire team.
o Own Skills Matrix, including competency expectations, training plans, and a regular review cadence to build capability, flexibility, and bench strength.
o Provide semi-annual and annual performance evaluations, including ongoing coaching, feedback, and individual development planning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bring a minimum of 10 years of progressive supply chain and procurement experience within an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) environment for industrial equipment.
· Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), with a solid understanding of machining, fabrication, casting, and assembly processes.
· Demonstrate success managing a range of procurement categories, including raw materials, inventory, specialized subcontract manufacturing services, and commercial buying.
· Lead and develop teams effectively by building accountability, strengthening technical capability, and setting clear performance expectations that support employee growth and results.
· Demonstrated ability to manage daily execution in a fast-paced environment—set priorities, balance capacity, and meet deadlines while tracking performance to plan (hours, schedule, and key metrics).
· Communicate clearly, think critically, make sound decisions, and collaborate effectively across functions.
· Use ERP systems, PLM/engineering viewing software, data reporting tools, and standard Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel, with a high level of proficiency.
· Demonstrate a customer-focused, proactive approach with the ability to lead continuous improvement efforts that align with company goals, strengthen cross-functional workflows, and drive practical problem-solving across procurement processes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Four-year undergraduate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field, with the technical aptitude and interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with suppliers, Engineering, and cross-functional teams.
· Possess a recognized professional purchasing certification, i.e. Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
· Knowledgeable in Lean Six Sigma principles (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping); a Green or Black Belt certification is a strong plus.
