Full Job Description

Company Overview

Alta Care Group is a non-profit dedicated to strengthening the lives of vulnerable children. We're the parent company of Alta Behavioral Health and Alta Head Start.

Summary

Alta Care Group is seeking a Payroll Clerk with a concentration in complete in-house automated payroll and other department requirements as needed. This position performs all duties for accurate and timely payroll processing requirements, cash receipts, journal entries, and all other duties relating to fiscal operations.

Specific Essential Functions of the Job

Ensures all employee timesheets are correctly entered into payroll system every two weeks.
Ensures each timesheet has the appropriate approvals, personnel information and accurate totals.
Completes follow-up on timesheets missing information, inaccurate calculations or missing approvals.
Checks cost centers, hours and calculations on timesheets.
Ensures that overtime calculations are correct and have approval.
Distributes employee leave balance information to all supervisors and/or management staff.
Corrects any errors and has employee initial any changes made. Verify leave hours accrued and used.
Prepares and files all payroll taxes/reporting timely.
Maintains neat and accurate payroll and fiscal file systems.
Communicate information as needed to employees, responding to any inquires as received.
Provides reporting from payroll and fiscal accounting systems as needed and/or required.
Reconciles and tracks revenues that are be received by the program. Immediately process receipts to bank for deposit. Maintains a daily cash receipt file with complete documentation.
Properly codes and records reimbursements, cash, and checks into accounting system through deposit entries.
Prepares and enters journal entries as directed.
Performs all other duties as assigned.

Continuously seeking methods of improvement for efficient operations.

Specific Essential Conditions of Employment

Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds.
Must be able to pass BCI/FBI background check in accordance with ODJFS Licensing regulations.
Must be able to pass a medical exam in accordance with ODJFS licensing Regulations.
Must be able to provide documentation of being free from communicable tuberculosis in accordance with Head Start Standards.

Minimum Qualifications

3 years relevant experience in In-house automated payroll and payroll tax experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. In-house automated payroll and payroll tax experience required.

WORK CONDITIONS:

Variable hours of work which may include overtime and weekends and occasional travel.

Salary Commensurate with experience.
