Accountant – Multi-Location Financial Reporting

Location: Yuma, Arizona
Full-Time | On-Site | No Travel Required

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our management office in Yuma, Arizona. This position provides accounting and financial reporting support for approximately seven business locations in California.

The Accountant will work directly with bookkeepers and leadership at each location to prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements and reporting packages. The position serves as an important link between our individual locations and the corporate management office.

Our corporate management team handles consolidated corporate reporting and tax matters. This position is focused on the accounting, review, and financial reporting for the individual locations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare monthly financial statements and financial reporting packages for approximately seven California business locations.
Work directly with location bookkeepers who gather, enter, and submit financial information and supporting documentation.
Review general ledger activity and financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and proper account classification.
Identify discrepancies, unusual transactions, coding issues, missing information, and other potential accounting errors.
Work with location bookkeepers and management to research discrepancies and make or coordinate necessary correcting and adjusting entries.
Review balance sheet and income statement accounts and assist with account reconciliations.
Ensure monthly financial reporting is completed accurately and according to established deadlines.
Work directly with location leadership to review financial statements, answer questions, research variances, and ensure the financials accurately reflect business operations.
Prepare financial reports and supporting schedules for ownership, management, and corporate use.
Coordinate with the corporate management office regarding reporting requirements, accounting questions, and year-end information.
Provide assistance with questions regarding the Paychex payroll system, particularly as they relate to payroll taxes, payroll reporting, deductions, and employee benefits.
Assist bookkeepers with accounting procedures, account coding, documentation, and financial reporting questions.
Help maintain consistent accounting practices and procedures across all locations.
Assist with year-end reporting and provide schedules and documentation requested by corporate accounting or outside professionals.
Perform other accounting and financial reporting duties as needed.

Qualifications

Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent accounting experience will be considered.
Several years of hands-on accounting experience, including preparation and review of financial statements.
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
Experience supporting multiple business locations, departments, or entities is preferred.
Ability to review accounting work, identify discrepancies, determine the cause, and coordinate appropriate corrections.
Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software.
Experience with Paychex or a similar payroll system is preferred.
Working knowledge of payroll taxes, payroll reporting, deductions, and employee benefit administration is helpful.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple monthly reporting deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to explain accounting and financial information clearly to bookkeepers and operational managers.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
Ability to work independently while collaborating with employees and managers at multiple locations.

Position Structure

This position is based in our Yuma, Arizona management office and supports approximately seven California locations. No regular travel is required.

Bookkeepers at each location are responsible for gathering, entering, and submitting much of the day-to-day financial information. The Accountant reviews that information, prepares the financial statements and reporting packages, identifies and corrects accounting issues, and works with location leadership to ensure the financial information is complete and accurate.

The corporate management office is responsible for consolidated corporate reporting and tax matters.
