SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under supervision, provide assistance to clients to overcome crisis and maintain self-sufficiency while displaying a positive and professional image of Head Start education services for Children in Yuma, La Paz and Mohave counties according to federal head Start Performance Standards and the program’s early education policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1)Assess teaching staff based on established teaching principles, create practical goals, mentor and coach for teaching staff to achieve set goals, provide strategies and other resources, evaluate progress and effectiveness, and update goals as needed.

2)Perform assessments, observations, and determine planned trainings for classroom staff.

3)Continuously expand knowledge on research-based coaching in order to provide meaningful feedback to classroom staff and other coaches.

4)Report on safety and/or compliance issues as observed.

5)Perform accurate and efficient data entry into relevant systems.

6)Comply with laws, regulations, and standards as they pertain to the Head Start program at WACOG.

7)Track children’s assessment outcomes and identify school readiness goals for WACOG; provide expertise to implement activities for children to meet goals; and investigate scores for accuracy.

8)Participate in assigned program professional development.

9)Work as part of a cohesive team to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the department.

10)Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless coaching.

11)Regular travel within WACOG service area, including overnight stays as needed; additional travel may be required.

12)Maintain reliable and predictable attendance; work outside of standard business hours as needed.

13)Utilize tact and discretion to maintain confidentiality of information and a positive image of WACOG.

14)Perform other duties as necessary to carry out the administrative/ programmatic goals and objectives of WAGOG and/or department.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSAs) The individual who holds this position must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The KSAs listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed for satisfactory performance.

-Knowledge and understanding of the Head Start Program performance standards and other applicable regulations

-Working knowledge and understanding of Child Development

-Basic knowledge and experience in the theories and principles of child growth and development, early childhood education (birth to age five) and family support

-Ability to develop and evolve within the position to maximize interpersonal communications results

-Ability to read and interpret a wide variety of technical instructions

-Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, and fair-mindedness in all interactions while providing exceptional customer care.

- Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, research solutions, and draw valid conclusions

- Ability to collect and compile data relevant to Head Start program-wide reporting of children’s learning progress and other data as required by WACOG Head Start

- Ability to provide effective presentations regarding Head Start early childhood education services to parents, staff, and groups

- Ability to mentor less experienced team members and others in the organization

-Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Head Start staff, Head Start parents and community members who reflect various lifestyles, culture/ethnic differences, socio-economic backgrounds and a variety of educational levels

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelors degree with Early Childhood Education

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Coaching experience

Early Childhood Education experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Current AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card/ Criminal History Affidavit/Central Registry Background Check

Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment

*Ability to secure and maintain a driver’s license valid in the state of Arizona. Will be required to drive an agency vehicle. Employees authorized to operate a private vehicle for WACOG business are required to carry liability insurance minimums. For purposes of vehicle insurance, minimum 21 years of age.

** Current Health Physical and TB Clearance WHEN incumbent is paid primarily (≥50%) out of Head Start department funds, allocations adjusted monthly
