WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are seeking an Account Follow Up Specialist who will assist and manage the billing and collections for outpatient hospital programs and physicians. This type of specialist acts as an intermediary between the medical institution, patients, and the insurance agency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Reviews accounts and/or follow-up documents for outstanding accounts receivable issues
Contacts insurance and/or third-party organizations by telephone, correspondence, or meetings to resolve issues impairing reimbursement and secure reimbursement for billed services.
Prepare and maintain collection related documents, appeals, reconsiderations, data, and reports in compliance with all State and Federal laws pertaining to healthcare reimbursement.
Responds to correspondence from third party organizations regarding outstanding accounts receivable.
Demonstrate ability to work under minimum supervision.
Prepares paperwork for adjustments, charge corrections or refunds for review and approval.
Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent
3-5 years in the healthcare reimbursement field
Knowledge of insurance company’s procedures and policies
Knowledge of governmental, legal, and regulatory provisions related to collection activities
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS coding
Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology
Knowledge of basic mathematics
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products, Internet browsing and medical practice management software
