## Full-Stack / Platform Engineer — AGI Scientist Platform
**Part-time contractor to start | Remote / Flexible | Potential full-time conversion after VC funding**
### About TakaHuman
TakaHuman is a pre-seed startup founded by serial entrepreneur **Dan Takahashi**, whose previous company achieved an IPO on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
We are building a **unified AGI scientist platform** for scientific discovery and engineering across:
- Drug development
- Industrial chemistry
- Energy materials
- Semiconductors
- Thermal materials
Our platform combines **AI-driven digital simulation**, scientific workflow automation, and eventually **robotic automation labs** to create a closed-loop scientific discovery pipeline.
Long term, our mission is to extend healthspan, elevate human performance, and integrate biological and digital intelligence.
---
## The Role
We are looking for a **highly technical full-stack / platform engineer** who can move quickly across backend, frontend, cloud infrastructure, and scientific workflows.
You will help build production-grade systems for our AGI scientist platform, including backend APIs, simulation orchestration services, user-facing interfaces, data pipelines, and deployment infrastructure.
This is not a narrow frontend or backend role. You should be comfortable owning features end to end in a small, fast-moving startup environment.
A strong candidate will have direct experience building software connected to **drug discovery or drug development simulation workflows**.
---
## What You Will Work On
You may work on systems such as:
- Backend services for scientific workflow orchestration
- APIs for simulation pipelines, model execution, and experiment tracking
- Frontend interfaces for scientists, founders, and technical users
- Infrastructure for scalable cloud deployment and job execution
- Integration with molecular modeling, ADMET, PK/PD, or simulation tools
- Data pipelines for computational chemistry, biology, and lab automation workflows
- Internal tools that allow researchers to design, run, monitor, and analyze experiments
---
## Required Experience
We are looking for someone who meets most or all of the following requirements:
1. **Early-stage startup experience**
Prior engineering experience at an early-stage startup, ideally with fewer than 20 people.
2. **Drug development simulation experience**
Hands-on engineering experience with software, data, or simulation workflows related to drug discovery or drug development, plus familiarity with key concepts such as discovery, ADMET, molecular simulation, preclinical research, PK/PD, or CMC.
3. **Backend engineering experience**
Minimum 3 years of backend development experience building systems deployed to real customers, clients, or production users.
4. **Frontend and/or infrastructure experience**
Minimum 3 years of experience in frontend engineering, infrastructure engineering, DevOps, cloud deployment, or platform engineering.
5. **Production ownership**
Experience shipping reliable, maintainable, and scalable production systems.
6. **Fast execution**
Ability to work independently, make pragmatic technical decisions, and deliver quickly in an early-stage startup environment.

## Technologies and Skills We Care About
### Backend / Platform
- Python
- FastAPI
- Workflow orchestration
- APIs and backend services
- Background jobs and long-running compute tasks
### Frontend
- React
- Next.js
- TypeScript
- Dashboards, internal tools, or data-heavy user interfaces
### Infrastructure
- AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Docker
- CI/CD
- Monitoring and logging
- Scalable compute infrastructure
### Scientific / Simulation Tools
Experience with any of the following is a strong plus:
- RDKit
- OpenMM, GROMACS, or AMBER
- Schrödinger Suite
- AlphaFold pipelines
- Molecular docking or molecular dynamics workflows
- ADMET or PK/PD modeling tools
- NumPy, SciPy, pandas, PyTorch, or JAX
---
## Nice to Have
- Experience working directly with scientists, computational chemists, biologists, or materials researchers
- Experience with AI agents, scientific copilots, or automated research workflows
- Familiarity with LLM-based systems, RAG, tool use, or agentic workflow orchestration
- Experience building platforms that manage compute-heavy simulation jobs
- Comfort working closely with founders in rapid product iteration cycles
- Interest in drug discovery, AGI, robotics, longevity, materials science, or scientific automation
- GitHub projects, open-source contributions, technical demos, or scientific publications
---
## Working Style
This role is best for someone who:
- Enjoys early-stage startup ambiguity
- Can turn a rough scientific or product idea into working software
- Communicates clearly and directly
- Is comfortable making architecture decisions without over-engineering
- Can switch between backend, frontend, infrastructure, and product thinking
- Wants to build foundational systems, not just isolated tickets
---
## Compensation
This role will begin as a **part-time contractor position**.
Conversion to full-time after VC funding is possible, but not mandatory.
We believe this is a very strong moment to join TakaHuman. We are planning to issue stock options within the next two to three months, and this may be the final window of opportunity to join before those options are issued and before a potential valuation increase following VC funding.
For candidates who believe deeply in the mission, this could be a major opportunity. In the founder’s previous two companies, the value of stock options became significantly greater than salary compensation for early contributors.
Cash compensation and equity terms will depend on role scope, seniority, and candidate fit, and will be subject to the company’s formal equity plan documents.
Written approval by email or WhatsApp will serve as the binding confirmation mechanism for agreed compensation terms.
---
## Why Join Now
You will join at the foundation stage of a company building infrastructure for the next generation of scientific discovery.
This is a rare opportunity to help design and ship the core platform for an AGI scientist system before the company scales, before the team becomes large, and before the valuation steps up.
