Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Driver for wheelchair and gurney transportation services to ensure safe, reliable, and compassionate mobility assistance for our clients. In this vital role, you will operate specialized vehicles designed for passenger comfort and safety, providing transportation for individuals with mobility challenges, including seniors, children, and patients. Your proactive approach to traffic laws, safety regulations, and customer service will help create a positive experience for every passenger. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives while honing your driving skills in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

Safely operate wheelchair accessible vehicles and gurneys, adhering to all traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
Assist passengers with boarding, disembarking, and securing wheelchairs or gurneys in compliance with safety standards.
Respond quickly and effectively to traffic changes or road hazards to ensure timely arrivals and departures.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with passengers, addressing their needs, and ensuring their comfort throughout the journey.
Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and emergency stop procedures when necessary.
Conduct routine vehicle inspections to maintain mechanical knowledge of the vehicle’s condition and report any issues promptly.
Maintain accurate logs of trips, passenger details, and safety checks in accordance with company policies and transportation regulations.

Experience

Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred but not required if qualified under local laws.
Experience operating transit buses, school buses, or other commercial vehicles involving passenger transport.
Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations applicable to passenger vehicles.
Prior experience working with children or seniors is highly desirable; familiarity with behavior management and childcare is a plus.
Basic first aid certification including CPR; experience responding to emergency situations is advantageous.
Mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting is beneficial for ensuring vehicle safety.
Multilingual skills or bilingual abilities are considered an asset to serve diverse communities effectively.
