Full Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a passionate and versatile Character Generalist (Junior–Mid) to join our dynamic creative team. In this role, you will be instrumental in bringing characters to life across various projects by leveraging your skills in 3D modeling, animation, and visual effects. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help craft compelling characters that resonate with audiences worldwide.

You will be technically proficient artist in control of the character pipeline. You’ll be responsible for taking characters from the initial sculpt/model to a film-ready rig in Unreal Engine.

This is a contract position.

Duties

Develop high-quality 3D character models, rigging, and animations using industry-standard software such as Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max
Create engaging character animations, including facial expressions, body movements, and motion graphics for diverse media platforms
Utilize tools like Cinema 4D, ZBrush, Mudbox, and Photoshop to sculpt detailed characters and enhance visual fidelity
Collaborate with art directors and fellow artists to ensure character designs align with project vision and technical specifications
Implement scripting and automation workflows using C#, Python, or C++ to streamline character setup and animation pipelines
Assist in post-production processes including compositing, color correction, and video editing using Adobe After Effects, Premiere, or similar tools
Contribute to the development of digital art assets by applying principles of anatomy knowledge, color theory, typography, and graphic design

Requirements

Proven experience in 3D animation, character modeling, or related fields with a strong portfolio demonstrating relevant work
Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, Blender (3D software), Cinema 4D, ZBrush, Mudbox, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), After Effects, Premiere Pro
Knowledge of scripting languages like Python or C# for automation and pipeline integration
Familiarity with game engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine for real-time character implementation
Understanding of computer graphics principles including anatomy knowledge and digital art techniques
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple projects efficiently
Strong communication skills with an eye for detail and a passion for continuous learning in the evolving field of character creation
Blender Skills: Sculpting, Retopology, UVs.
Technical Rigging: Proven ability to build robust rigs (Blender/Maya) that play nice with UE5 Control Rig
Animation Skills: Clear ability to create quality animations in Blender/Unreal Engine.
Engine Integration: Deep understanding of skinning, weight painting, and troubleshooting FBX imports.
Artistic Versatility: Ability to match an established aesthetic, from stylized to hyper-real.
Team Player: Demonstrated passion for creating stories or collaborating creatively.
Bonus Points: Experience with Substance Painter or creating custom Unreal Materials.

Additional Job Details

2-Month Contract (w/ potential for extension).
3 days in-person (Quinlan) / 2 days remote.
