Summary:
The Dispatcher is responsible for
· Scheduling and dispatching drivers in an efficient manner
· Ensures that all transportation requests are completed and logged
· Maintaining records, logs, and schedules of trip requests
· Prepares reports on daily dispatch operations
· Contacts drivers, passengers, medical offices and others by phone

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree ideal
Associated degree preferred.
Proficiency in Data entry, Microsoft Office, 1-2 years Customer Service preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Utilize software system to schedule trips, assign routes and manage changes
· Working knowledge of service area geography major travel routes
· Exhibit clear, concise written and verbal skills
· Present a friendly, helpful, knowledgeable demeanor to internal and external associates, vendors, and others at all levels
· Use a "two-way radio", multi-line telephone and fax machine
· Handle incoming telephone calls and radio traffic promptly and professionally
· Learn to guide anxious, undirected callers
· Provide appropriate information regarding estimated time of arrival
· Make timely & accurate entries/ coding in the computer system
· Monitor the routes for on-time pickups/drop-offs
· Ensure all vehicles return to base at the end of the route
· Ensure proper turnover to relieve dispatcher at the end-of-shift
Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional meetings

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work different shifts and or a flexible work schedule as needed
- Work is mostly accomplished indoors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities
- Work is performed in an office or in a cubicle space equipped with a telephone and computer
- The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen
Hours
Flexibility in availability is important, especially availability on weekends and evenings as well as weekdays. Hours vary.
